I would like to see a rule that if a player leaves the field

Oct 27, 2014, 12:47 PM

because of an injury...he can not return for that drive.

Agreed

Oct 27, 2014, 12:49 PM

Though I think a team should be able to bypass that with a TO

That sounds fair. So if it's your star QB or RB and merely

has a cramp, he could return after a few plays.

Even if you get a TO on the next play

Oct 27, 2014, 12:52 PM [ in reply to Agreed ]

The player will still be out until the offense or defense comes back on the field. Now two back to back TO's, rule still applies. He can come back in after two plays.

If, for some reason a player plays both sides of the ball, he can come back on offense or defense when the drive is over and/or possession changes.

Oh...thought turnover....

Oct 27, 2014, 4:00 PM

Sure, they can burn a timeout if they wish to get the player back in immediately.

so if D. Watson gets sacked with 1:00 left

Oct 27, 2014, 12:52 PM

in the game with a tie score and has the wind knocked out of him.......we have to finish the game with the backup?

That would not be a pleasant series of events to endure.

Or call a timeout.***

We don't need a rule that would encourage an opposing team to try to injure a player.

Kind of like Auburn ripping Boyd's helmet off

Oct 27, 2014, 2:00 PM

In the Chick-fil-A game that year? Agreed.

A short "recess" for players who leave for injury would cure flopping very quickly.

You mean in a situation where the trainer has to come out?

Oct 27, 2014, 12:57 PM

Not just somebody who can get themselves off the filed quickly, but you can see they are hurting?

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would assume he means

Oct 27, 2014, 12:59 PM

Any time play on the field is stopped for an injured player

And if the (questionable) injury occurs within the 20-yard line, he would also have to be held-out for the next defensive series of downs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

think you would need an additional ref just to keep

Oct 27, 2014, 1:45 PM

Up with who is in. ..

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

Re: Yep.

That is the most obvious solution to the issue of flopping. It provides a consequence if the player is flopping, and allows the team time to get the player proper medical attention if he is not flopping. It would not be too difficult for referees to keep track of, either...but then again, asking ACC officials to do even the simplest of tasks doesn't always get the expected result. Go Tigers!
