Ahhh Canada. Bless their hearts.

Canada is very much ahead of the curve here. There are 26 letters in the alphabet and even more special characters (pun intended). The string of letters will keep growing.

The problem here, as I see it, is there's increasingly all these almost boutique sexualities now that folks can "identify" as...and since we're all about the validation of identification now, somebody who identifies as a transexual cannot just turn around and tell somebody who identifies as a "demisexual" (like, wut?), or "two-spirit" (though how is that different than somebody who identifies as a "binary" and demands the use of the word "they" for their pronouns...nevermind, I don't even wanna know.) Which means the alphabet is just gonna keep right on a-growing.

Now, as a guy with strong Libertarian instincts, my root reflex has always been: you do you, fella. I do not care, whatever gets you through the day. Where I start drawing the line is when you require that I learn about, and validate, this special and unique flowerhood that you claim as your "identity." Because guess what: I still do not care.

If that makes me a dinosaur, Oh Well. And a cynic might suggest that all these special and unique flowers sort of cheapen this whole concept of legitimate alternate sexual identity. Society still hasn't accepted that there could possibly be three genders, pressing for the acknowledgement of 33 is...pushing things. A lot.

The LGBTQ people and their supporters feel empowered to change the meaning of words arbitrarily.

For example, using ‘they’ (plural pronoun) to describe a singular being he or her or it) is pure B.S.

If the LGBTQ crowd had the sense of fairness to come up with a new word …. not hijacking an existing word … to self-describe a particular attribute of theirs, then the ridicule that opponents of the LGBTQ ‘movement’ would be less intense.

(*). I firmly believe that this hijacking of the English language by the LGBTQ crowd reflects the militant aggressiveness with which they are pushing their agenda.

Xxxxxx

As for the 3rd gender, it is fine for those very rare females with the triple-X DNA to be named by something other than female. There is a good argument for them to be called female, if they want, because there is no “Y” chromosome. They are NOT men, however, nor should they be characterized as men on medical records, official IDs such as driver’s license or voter registrations or Medicare / Social Security / Birth Records.

Although potentially socially challenging for females with this characteristic to ‘want’ to be males, this is no excuse for a person to be ‘officially’ characterized by something different from what they are.

Earth is not the Never Land of Peter Pan lore. Enabling any person to ‘officially’ characterize themself as anything that they want is to suspend facts for fantasy. In their personal life, go with it. Call yourself a kitten or Zeus. No one should care about that.

But just stop it with the ‘official’ pandering to people who wish that they were a bird or a nymph instead of being a woman or a man, already.

Yes, I’m totally in agreement. I do not care what a person identifies as or has sex with as long as it’s consensual.

I do not care what a person’s race is as none of us chose our race.

Somehow not caring without validation, apologies, etc. is not enough.

That’s all I’ve got to give though.

Walking on eggshells is not a fun way to go through life and I refuse to do it.

Is there a letter for people that are obsessed with all things LGTBQ+!

2

Maybe “GAL” __ as in “Get A Life”.

Seriously I hardly ever run across articles / links to these topics except on TigerNet. Occasionally big government State lawmakers also obsess on regulating some minutiae of LGBTQ+ community. In almost every case, it’s something that never was on my radar screen.

It’s a weird obsession. (BTW - the OP doesn’t usually engage in these threads.)

Well you must be fortunate enough to not work for a living because literally every day my company, and probably most other major employers, are forcing us to read all about how amazing the alphabet community is. I mean I could not care less who somebody wants to ####, other than kids of course, but I get sick of hearing about it all the frickin time. If you have somehow managed to avoid hearing anything about any of this anywhere but here then congrats, but the rest of us are hearing the propaganda 24/7. I mean you don't think the leader of Canada just decided to pontificate on an issue that nobody other than Tneters would even notice do you? Is Trudeau equally obsessed or just people who comment on his views?

Curious if you actually attended Clemson.

I think we all work for a living. It is funny how you seem to be the only one facing this every day.

I also think it is hilarious that some of y'all care terms they are using in Canada. How does that impact your life?

Maybe on this holiday weekend you should spend quality time without family rather than manufacturing grievances to be upset about?

Re: Is there a letter for people that are obsessed with all things LGTBQ+!

May 28, 2023, 8:46 AM [ in reply to Re: Is there a letter for people that are obsessed with all things LGTBQ+! ]

I graduated from Clemson and work for a global organization that is HQ’d in the EU.

In my experience, LGBTQ employees are increasingly prevalent, although still rare. There are 3 of that work for my employer with whom I come into occasional contact. All three are biological males. I have not been informed (thank goodness!) about whether any of them were surgically altered in the junk zone.

Two of the three had their faces surgically altered. Neither were married (to either a man or a woman) before they transitioned. In both cases, this happened within the past decade. These two went from being the normal clean cut corporate man to being very ugly women. I mean they look BAD. Fortunately, neither is flamboyant; conservative women’s’ wear is their attire. When I have advance notice that either will be in a meeting in which ‘new’ visitors or ‘new’ colleagues are to be present, I advise them about the transition factor so that they can better manage their facial expressions when the first in-person contact takes place. That generally works to keep anyone from getting embarrassed so that the business at hand can be accomplished without any ‘personal complications.’

The two who surgically altered their faces are still highly productive colleagues. Very valuable to the company’s North American region.

The third one is a Mexican national who has a wife and high school age daughter. This transition is a really weird story. Long before his transition, he wanted out of Mexico, ostensibly to position himself for a high level job in the EU. He was (and remains as) a marginally productive colleague. However, my woke EU based employer has a ‘social’ objective of putting on a more ‘diverse’ image; therefore my employer went through the hoops to arrange for the work visa to bring him to the USA.

Here is where the abuse started.

As his USA work visa was near its expiration, he (still publicly a male) was able to get a temporary new work location in Toronto. My employer did this for what they announced internally as being for “humanitarian” reasons. His work location remains as Toronto for two years. No (announced) transition to ‘woman’ yet.

He becomes eligible again to renew his USA work visa. A few months after moving back to Chicago, he comes out with his transitioning announcement along with his new female name. Wife and daughter in tow.

Now he’s untouchable. Despite being worse than ever at his job, he’s golden. He (she) is also flamboyant now, whereas as a man he was reserved. BTW, he used hormones to grow bewbs and to soften up his face after doing something (waxing / electrolysis / ?) to get rid of facial hair. At a recent company team-building outing, he wore spandex. I avoided looking at this spectacle, but one of my (real) female buddies wasn’t averse to looking; he/she is either a ‘tucker’ or had a bawls-away &/or dickdectomy procedure.

But he’s safely ensconced with secure employment, and his colleagues must bear the dead weight that accompanies that his ‘diverse’ status attribute.

Just beautiful.

Lot of words, Danny, lot of words!

This seems like a potential HR issue, btw. I'm not saying it is. But I would suggest that it is better to say nothing and presume that mature adults will act like mature adults, rather than telling them about (effectively) the medical history of other employees. Someone who can't manage facial expression or who gets embarrassed in that situation is probably going to be a problem down the road, in any case.
