Once a Top 5 program to barely getting into the NCAA tourney

No, I am not talking baseball. I am referring to our Mens Golf program. Since winning the National Championship, our program has been in a steady decline. Going from making the NCAA Tournament as a given, to barley making it it for first time since 2010.

If the standard is to compete for championships, Penley is no longer getting the job done.

Should the same standards be used with Penley as they were with Leggett?

Coach Penley and Coach Leggett are both Hall of Fame coaches. Both of them have achieved great success at Clemson. Should one receive a pass while the other gets canned?

Penley just lost the ACC championship in extra holes this season and then when to the NCAA finals. With a team that looked pretty horrible to begin the season. Now I agree that he has underachieved lately but he also had a long run of players leaving early for the PGA which hurt. We have been rebuilding from that and although I thought it would come a little sooner I can see some progress.

Penley and DRad will have that discussion during DRad's next golf lesson ...just before he and Penley play 18 @ The Ocean Course .

That if Jack had eight ACC titles and a national title in his belt he would be given just as much leeway as Penley. Championships matter.

I wouldn't call what either one of them has accomplished as "success".

Still.....compare the trophy cases and tell me who should get more of a benefit of a doubt.
