I can tell them how to bring in more money. It's so obvious I won't mention it.

Not sure what this is. I think the ACC should renegotiate with E$PN and request $EC money - especially in game where an ACC team plays an $EC team.

Look, I love the ACC.
The ACC made a gamble, & it didn't work nearly as quickly or as profoundly as I or they had hoped.
Taking radical measures to try to add more revenue seems like EXACTLY what we need in the league right now. We're locked into this league, that's just the way it is, but make no mistake, a competitive ACC fixes everything, & additional revenue benefits everyone (& selfishly if it means bigger games or more coverage, I'm stoked!).

Y'all are hilariously strange sometimes. I don't know what y'all really want anymore, but downvoting this? Like, y'all really don't want the ACC to try creative new things to bring revenue to the league?
Sorry for being sincerely excited about it, but I have no problem supporting the league itself & encouraging its growth outright. Ain't nothing but a good thing.

YUGE revenue will be realized if they start selling beer. It does not have to be fancy, cheap domestics are fine. Bud (light and regular), Coors, Miller whatever. Offer a skanky IPA option for the hipsters.
Everyone else is doing it, why not Clemson ?
And, as Benjamin Franklin said "Beer is proof God truly loves us".
Don't let the Carrie Nation types impose their rather archaic ideals upon the masses.

The A She She doing A She She things, like making up a BS job for another Tarhole. I’m sure this will put the conference right up there with the B10 and SEC.

Phillips needed the PR to show he’s busy doing something. Sounds like a waste of time and money.

Moves up his sleeve than THIS.
So far, he seems to be overloaded and overwhelmed. Though I am glad that, talk of moving, the conference headquarters is not still his top priority.
This is an underwhelming move. There were no information of what these guys have produced for anyone through Fish Bait so far, so wth?
Also, what are we, the ACC paying this company, and what are they expecting/guaranteeing, heck, even projecting, the amount of money they will generate for us.
So far, Phillips has been completely unimpressive. I don't believe I've seen ANY projections at all from him yet.
Having, said all this, I hope this will somehow, generate a gazillion dollars for the ACC.
Having nothing in the article about exactly how and how much money they can generate, makes me doubt they'll be the only ones to profit off of this arrangement. I hope they prove me wrong.

the ACC to cover the costs of hiring said consulting firm. Notice the ACC hasn't told us how much they are paying this PR firm for their "innovative solutions"...
In a way I feel bad for Jim Phillips - he inherited a bad long term TV contract from Swofford and is really grasping at straws to try and turn that chickenshitt into chicken salad. Let's face it - TV contracts are the biggest revenue generators for all the college conferences and the ACC is in the worst position for increasing that revenue stream thanks to a combination of complacency and a bonehead deal made by the previous village idiot. No amount of PR stunts or re-branding is going to make up for the millions the ACC is losing in the TV revenue stream in comparison to the other conferences.
Sadly, I really don't see a way out for the ACC because about the only way to get ESPN to renegotiate the TV contract before 2036 is to bring in more teams to the ACC. Bringing in a West Virginia or some current non-Power 5 team just isn't going to add the value we need. The ACC is screwed because the the SEC and Big 10 have grabbed up the available money generating institutions within our footprint and with the exception of Notre Dame (who has no intention of joining the ACC in football) the ACC has practically no options.
Should the SEC or Big 10 make Clemson an offer, I certainly hope we take it because even if we have to go to court over this ACC GOR albatross it will be worth it in the long run to get out of a dead end conference.

League success changes everything
Aug 11, 2022, 10:06 AM

You're not wrong; we're locked in with this contract & everyone who has looked for a loophole has come up empty-handed & been judged harshly for it.
But adding teams like WV or moving to the SEC aren't real options to fix the problem.
The ACC being elite-competitive again, however, fixes everything on its own and makes this existing contract a literal boon in spite of otherwise being atrocious.
If this group finds ways to make ACC partners more money & that money helps the members find more football success (as we've already seen to some degree from the ACCN money), it ends up being kinda brilliant.
If, for example, Miami wins at TAMU, Pitt beats Tennessee (again), Clemson smashes Notre Dame & FSU beats LSU, the remaining in-league games become vastly more relevant & profitable. It may seem like a stretch, but hey, Clemson's done it for a decade now, & I'm in favor of anything that helps the league grow. I don't know what to expect from this group, but I'm sincerely curious.

If they came up with a good idea the Conference wouldn't do it. Anything that would add revenue is going to add teams or subtract them or subtract some teams revenue and add to others.
