Whomever inherits the smoking wreckage of the conference in a few years will be learning all about impairment.

although I wanted it out of North Carolina entirely. Still too close to Tobacco Road for my taste.

That's what I was thinking, and probably the only way to get the ACC out NC, would be to disband the entire conference bc the NC teams in the ACC are many!!!

Big power move… SEC and Big Ten now scared

Phillips, you ####### suck ### and you will inevitably go down as the idiot that wasn’t proactive enough to keep the conference competitive.

Swofford did in the league period end of story. Phillips has a substandard 375 year tv contract anchored to his neck that will doom the conference.

With the CFP expansion, why would the ACC fold? What benefit is there to keep expanding conferences? The SEC and Big Ten were never going to have more than 6-8 teams in that playoff anyhow. It actually makes more sense to be in a smaller conference like the PAC-12, Big 12, ACC, or The American. They’ll all get at least one team in as a conference winner. I’ve also noticed how all this conference jumping noise quieted down a good bit after they announced CFP expansion.

Yep Swoffy made Charlotte like the heart of ACC. Hardly ever heard Greensboro. When ACC title game in Charlotte every year I was expecting moved there eventually.

PAC 12 had their HQ in super high-end office space in San Francisco and that seemed to solve all of their problems.

I thought for a minute that the North Carolina Conference might leave the state. We dodged a bullet there. Maybe they should just have the HQ in Chapel Hill.

Charlotte is the most important city in the Carolina's and like Greensboro, is in the center of the conference. Good move.

Actually Charleston SC is the most important city in the Carolina's. But it they had to leave Greensboro should have left for Asheville least some scenery

Charleston the most important city? In what way? Charlotte is far larger, economically relevant, etc.

My vote would be for Nome Alaska. They're out of touch mentally so might as well be out of touch physically.

Greenville, SC would have saved the conference money and would have been more central and closest to their biggest cash cow, Clemson!

The Old ACC is officially dead. I have mixed emotions.

While as a true old timer I can never forget the Tobacco Road dominance of the old ACC and their screwing of Clemson, its only football school, I also can't lie. The old days of playing each team twice in hoops and each team in football every year were better. And the ACC tournament in Greensboro every year.
Smaller was better. But alas, that is not where we are in 2022, so I guess we have to change with the times.
