Yep. Nothing wrong with the muddle handoff on the kick after the safety. If Mafah and Ship had fumbled the hand off I would understand the complaining. It was a good play right up until the fumble.

While BOTH fumbles were killers; ANY fumbles were inexcusable. How many post game interviews included coaches AND players emphasizing the NECESSITY of ‘cleaning that area up’? It’s almost comical when you see a player wrap up a ball with two hands as he is about to get tackled by one or more defenders.

UNTIL you don’t see them do that. Maybe Mafah was thinking he could get more yards. But Williams had to see/be CRITICALLY AWARE that multiple tacklers were closing in.

There were multiple plays/mistakes that cost the Tigers the game; but those two fumbles COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED (imo), IF the players didn’t just play ‘lip service’ to the “…we’ll fix those things…” declarations.

Six days to the ACCCG!

I recall a former player saying that Coach Ford HATED fumbles and would make the guilty party run sprints for a day up and down the furrows on the plowed fields at his farm. I think it was on the Sunday after the game. He said no one ever dropped another ball after that experience. Of course, that was a different day and age....
