Ah, the good old days when

the middle of the political spectrum ruled rather than the extremes

there were 3 TV stations and some agreement on what the facts were

the government helped people go to college for the first time in their families history

the economy boomed, labor unions thrived, the middle class exploded and we had a very progressive tax structure to help pay for all of this and pay down the massive debt from WW II



Ah, the bad old days when

people of color had to fight (non-violently) and die to be treated like human beings

women could not pursue many, many careers no matter there desire or capabilities

we sent millions of our young people off to Vietnam to die for some foolish political doctrine that had no chance of succeeding. 56,000 did not come back.

Yes, I remember the good old Kennedy days:

Escalation in Viet Nam
Erection of the Berlin Wall with no repercussions.
Bay of bigs disgraceful debacle and loss of thousands of lives.
Cuban missile crisis in which we ultimately backed down when it came time to inspect the island.

Yeah, the good old days!
