What I got out of this was, Dabo gambled on team success by hiring cut rate coaches, and that is exactly what we've seen all season, cut rate coaching without enough of experience to be successful with one of the better HS teams.

Always appreciate you David. You're just as much a part of the Clemson experience as any of our coaches and players. Keep up the good work!

The best is yet to come.

David, DJ only has 1 Playing YEAR LEFT

Nov 27, 2022, 12:35 AM

DJ has played in more than 4 games in each of 2020-2021-2022, so 3 years total now.
So after 2022, DJ has only ONE YEAR of eligibility left.
You only get 4 YEARS total of Playing NCAA football.
You can spread those 4 years over 5 years/RedShirt or 6 years/COVID). https://www.ncsasports.org/coronavirus-

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: David, DJ only has 1 Playing YEAR LEFT

Nov 27, 2022, 1:03 AM

…Another read that explains the 4 YEARS playing MAXIMUM (regardless of 2020/Covid):
“What does an extra year of eligibility mean?
All student athletes whose 2020-2021 season was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic will now get 6 years to compete in (((4 FULL SEASONS))) of their sport in college. Traditionally, there is a 5-year clock for athletes to PLAY 4 YEARS.
For seniors, this ruling meant a chance to finish out their college careers.
For others, it opens a door to new academic and athletic opportunities.”
=====
That’s why DJ only has ONE year of eligibility remaining after this 2022 season…

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was wrong: DJ MOST DEFINITELY has 2 Years left AFTER this

Nov 27, 2022, 7:20 AM

I am wrong about this. The NCAA articles I found said maximum 4 YEARS playing, which you can spread over 5 or 6 years, but clearly the 2020/COVID year just totally didn’t count, as another poster said.
I proved this by looking up BT POTTER. He most definitely played 5 FULL SEASONS, 2018-2022. My apologies for taking those articles at face value.
So, DJ MOST DEFINITELY has 2 Years left AFTER this year.
Again, my apologies.
Ex:
https://www.ncsasports.org/coronavirus-sports/ncaa-eligibility-coronavirus

= = = = = =
PROOF that 2020 didn’t count:
BT POTTER
FGM/FGA PTS
2018: 1/1 10 3rd in the nation with 79 touchbacks
2019: 13/21 118
2020: 18/23 115
2021: 21/26 101
2022: 17/20 92 ...2019-20-21-22 = 4 YEARS

DJ has l year left. Dabo want pull him only maybe 1or 2 plays. No acc champing ship and will lose our 2 string quarterback to another team. Dabo has to much love for DJ.

Re: TNET: WATCH: David Hood answers questions from fans after South Carolina loss

Nov 27, 2022, 6:24 AM

First of all, thank you for tackling these questions in such an honest and forthright manner. I think a lot of our problems are obvious for everyone to see, but sometimes when you work as hard as Dabo has on the myriad of issues with which he deals it is hard to see the forest for the trees. I think his intentions are genuine. I do, however, have one gripe for sure. Dabo and Clemson University have asked Clemson fans to step up in a big way in their physical and financial support. It has given Dabo many of the tools needed to recruit at a higher level . I do resent the fact that his offensive coordinator, and sometimes Dabo have very sharp and unpleasant responses to questions from the very folks who support his program so ardently. I do not feel like you can ask for that kind of support without personal accountability and honest and respectful responses to questions. Many of the people asking these questions have been ardent Clemson fans through the bad years and the good years. Many of them were loyal Clemson fans before Dabo or his coordinators were even born. Show some respect!

Should we have gone for 2 after the last touchdown to be up by 10 instead of 9? A field goal would tie it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was thinking same thing as it was happening.

Nov 27, 2022, 8:29 AM

2pts would have put us by 10- scores for them- which happened.

If we had missed 2 point conversation, we would be up 8. Basically a TD and 2. Would have forced Beamer to go for 2 that earlier in 4th qtr?

Re: TNET: WATCH: David Hood answers questions from fans after South Carolina loss

Nov 27, 2022, 8:42 AM

We lost by 1 point. Two long passes by Carolina that should not have happened, and two fumbles by us were the difference and could have made it our game going away. They struggled to get it in when they were in the red zone. I don't know what we were thinking with our safety up so near to the line of scrimmage on that 4th down in their territory. That was a killer. Then we let him get outside to his right and throw that touchdown. Contain has been an issue a lot this year. Too many looking to sack the QB and they run straight at him out of control. We are going to face a stronger passing attack this week with UNC. I hope we are well and ready. I trust Dabo to settle them down and play better mentally. With all the problems we had, we still could have won with Potter if we don't fumble. The player who fumbled is a great player but young. He will learn from it.

Not trying to argue, but...

Nov 27, 2022, 8:44 AM

When you were asked why DJ wasn't benched (definitely not a David Hood appropriate question,) your response brought up Cade's practice performance thought process, which you then said 'I don't know.'

Later on, you mentioned noticing other things at practice. Since none of us attend practices and this is the black hole of deferring to the coaches to make the decision based on practice, could you shed more light on what you see in Cade's practice performance? (Inaccurate, slow reads, bad checks, footwork, missed routes, wrong plays, etc.) What coaching and correction takes place after these mistakes and is it comparable to DJ? What makes you hesitant to answer when you said 'I don't know' in the first question you responded to?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Not trying to argue, but...

Nov 27, 2022, 9:22 AM

So you want him to tell the world what our next quarterback’s weaknesses are?? If we do put him into a game they would all know what to key on. Why don’t we just open practices up for everyone to see.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You internet people sure are odd

Nov 27, 2022, 2:28 PM

I suspect there's nothing to report... Watch warmups sometime and you'll see a glaring difference of rhythm and technique which undermines the argument that 'DJ is our guy' and 'Cade isn't ready.' DH obviously isn't going to share anything that would jeopardize team secrets. Lol, you think the world doesn't know our weaknesses already? I'm trusting my lying eyes, I suppose.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thanks David

Nov 27, 2022, 10:08 AM

If DJ comes back, we’re going to have a real mess on our hands at QB. Klubnick will go to portal or kid coming in from AL will de-committ. I would help him decide and play Klubnick against UNC. He can’t do any worse. We’re just milk toast on offense, part of that is our offensive play calling and wide receivers not getting separation and dropping balls and fighting for 50/50 balls but we can’t fix all that on a dime, but we can change QBs. I’m sorry, but I’m done with DJ, he’s had two years to develop, we recruit at a very high level but we’re struggling to beat teams that are 15 or 20 places behind us (and lower) in recruiting/talent.

David, this was no doubt one of the most mind blowing losses for Clemson in all the years I have watched this program play. Let’s give credit to SC they capitalized on our achilles’ heel and that was our QB, as well as our inability to protect the ball. I like what Coach Mark Richt said, quote, that Dabo belief in DJ has now come back to bite him in the rear end. I have to agree, this has been an issue all season with DJ. He can’t play a full 60 minutes. I can’t place all the blame all on DJ, I blame Brandon Streeter too! He needed to fix this mess like yesterday. In fact I have always said your OC, as well as your DC needs to be on the sideline so they can be face to face with the players. Goodwin is, but Streeter needs to get from upstairs and back down on the field to call plays, get in DJ’s face and do what a true OC needs to do and that’s Coach his unit up. I like to know your thoughts on moving forward, does Dabo make a change at QB, and will there definitely be changes in terms of the offensive staff, cause this staff outside the O-Line and RB’s has been terrible. The TE’s, WR’s and QB play needs cleaning up. Plus, do you believe if the College level went to places a radio speaker in the helmets like the NFL so the QB can get the plays, would it help QB’s run offenses much better than they do now. Just your thoughts on those things.
