I watched the basketball game last night and thought...

the atmosphere was good. Especially toward the end, when PJ Hall got fired up, the crowd seemed to respond. It was fun watching a player show some excitement.
Good game, good atmosphere, good win.
Go Tigers.

I thought it was pretty sad that Hall had to exhort the

crowd to get them into the game. Back when I was there, we would go home hoarse from yelling our ar$es off, no arm waving by a player necessary.
It WAS a good gritty win by the team last night. The inevitable lull hit, as normal, in the middle of the second half, but this time they sank just enough crucial free throws, and got enough turnovers of their own down the stretch to pull out the "W".

But did any of our players “slap the floor” to help create the fervor? I’ve read that is important.

PJ exhorted the crowd. Not sure what the gesture is for that though. Oh he also helped the refs reverse a wrong call they were too clueless to catch on their own

I was AT the game. It was a late arriving crowd for those in the upper bowl, but the student section was packed and rocking during the pre-game and through the whole game from my perspective. Once the arena got filled with the late arrivers, it was loud through the game. Of course there were periods when the din died down a bit, but it didn't last long. The team was pumped up and cheering from the bench. It was an impressive TEAM effort to knock of FSU! FSU has 4 guys that are 7'-0" to 7'-4". Some of our guys certainly had trouble lofting shots over those guys, but they didn't give up. They found ways to work around them.
So, I guess it's all about perspective. I suppose the "atmosphere" may not translate too well for those watching on TV. The energy and excitement were there the entire game.

When Hall gestured to the crowd, he was looking right at me, so I gestured to the rest of the crowd and the entire place lit up. It was very exciting to have the mob at my fingertips like that.

the moment that you left the arena for concessions, and ending precisely the moment you re-entered the arena.
