Was lucky enough to meet Hank Aaron back in the day...

April 8, 1984, 10th anniversary of #715.
My father was at the game in 1974, in the left field bleachers.

What a nice, humble gentle man. When i got his autograph i could not believe how big his wrists were. I asked him about hitting homeruns, he said "Just line up your knuckles and roll your wrists when you swing"

Dad and I went to many Braves weekday games in the '70's and early '80's. He worked downtown, would call Mom, and she'd bring me down to his office and we would head out to the games, often super late.

Back then, even though there was less than 5,000 people there, after the 5th inning they would let you move to any open seat. We would move down close to the Braves on deck circle. Several times, with Aaron on deck, Dad would hold me on his lap and i'd scream "Hit the ball, Hank!" and every time he'd turn around with that big smile of his.

almost get runover by Hammerin' Hank. Many years ago I jogging downtown and this 7-series came flying up out of an underground parking garage, I kinda Luke Duke'd it across the hood (it was my more agile years), looked back at the driver to give him the "what for" and it was Hank Aaron. He had his hands raised a bit in a "my bad" gesture and I recognized him immediately...gave him a thumbs up. Spent the rest of the run thinking how cool it was to almost get takin' out by the man himself....Lulz.
