I want to thank all those who offered up prayers…

and condolences on the loss of my son. You will never know how much they are appreciated. Though my son is gone, his son is carrying on our Clemson legacy. He is attending Clemson now and is a member of the class of 2025.
His name is Mason and I hope you will keep him in your prayers. At 19 years old he feels like the weight of the world is now on his shoulders. His college years should be the happiest of his life but I fear he will look back on them with sadness.

I will offer up some advice that I will get demonized for but suggest to him to stay away from fraternities. Many encourage activities that center around alcoholic beverages. If this is a genetic thing, keep him away. I continue to think about you and your family. May God bless.

I cannot agree more. Greek life can look like fun but it hides many dangers, especially for those who may have inherited tendencies toward addictions.

Unfortunately, I know your pain. Lost one of my sons when he was 21 in a car wreck. Nothing is ever the same even 20 plus years later. God Bless.

I am still praying for you, your son, and family. I am so sorry that you all are going through this.
I was in Mason’s shoes my junior year at Clemson. Everyone is different but, his emotions are going to be all over the place this school year. I was in a sorority and those friends got me through it. Keep an eye on him and make sure that he has at least ONE GOOD friend at Clemson. The type of friend that you feel he will know the rest of his life. If he has that one true friend, he should be ok.
