Rattler

Feb 25, 2022, 2:20 PM

I love the optimism in Columbia. They are desperate for any hype so they think Rattler and Beamer are creating some sort of super team.

Little do they know the Chicken Curse is alive and Cootlumbia is where QBs go to die. I can't wait to see them sputter this year and hear all of the excuses. Most of all, I can't wait for them to come to Death Valley.

Also, is it just me or do you get weird vibes from Beamer? People make fun of Dabo for being a cheerleader, this dude seems to be the ultimate cheerleader. He needs to stick to the mayonnaise baths lol

Rattler was driving a Ford GT at Oklahoma & he kept denting it up. I guess he had to give back the car & truck he got at Oklahoma last season.

He’s jumping into a 1972 Pinto with a spoiler(TE from OU) it’s going to be really dangerous if he gets hit in the rear!

I was in Columbia last weekend to see Widespread Panic at The Township.

Saw Spencer Sunday when I was eating lunch. Not a chance in hell is he the 6'1 200 pounds that hes listed at.

I put him at 5'11 185

They have done some renovations to it in the last 5 years or so...maybe a little longer. Either way - it's a great place to see a concert.

Grandiose delusions and over-exaggerated optimism...

Feb 25, 2022, 2:49 PM

is a prerequisite for being a uof7c fan. That's just what they do and this is about the time of year it always seems to start. Right after they put them memories of yet another disappointing season in the rear view mirror, and this time next year will be no different. Those ignorant inbreds just never learn.

It makes it really is to be a rival of them. The never ending jokes and joy from the perpetually losing gives me renewed excitement for every season.

Re: Rattler

I would be optimistic too. They won 7 games last year after winning 6 the previous two seasons combined. And Rattler is the most talented QB in their program's history. The battle for 2nd place in the East is wide open this year and they'll have the edge in QB against most teams they play.

Florida has a new coach.
Tennessee still has a lot of work to do.
Kentucky hasn't taken the next step in recruiting.
Missouri is an average team.
Vandy is awful.

Not to even mention they adopted the 3 cupcake out of conference schedule from others in the SEC. CU and UGA only decent teams they play this year.

Ah yes LeonTrotsky®, your sober post takes some of the amusement out of this thread. However, I can't truthfully argue with you too much.

Aside from Rattler's quite good skills, he has ZERO competition for the QB job down there at the Fairgrounds.

He may not be able to cope with real competition (whereas many QBs get better via competition) and so he may be a stable presence in Columbia. And he's not likely to get a big under-the-table NIL deal that will induce him to hit the portal and leave S.Carolina.

As for S.Carolina / 2nd place, I doubt that they'll be lucky against FL again.

Kentucky is, I believe, fundamentally stronger than S.Carolina. Furthermore, KY's permanent SEC West opponent is Miss.State. KY's rotating SEC West opponent is Ole Miss in 2022. KY therefore has a built-in advantage for the "SEC West" reasons vs. U.of S.Carolina for that reason alone.

FWIW, Will Levis is a proven and good Sr. QB for KY; S.Rattler is a good prospect QB for U.of S.Carolina.

(S.Carolina, who of course has aTm as their permanent SEC west opponent, plays Arkansas as their floater from SEC West).

OK, I've beat it to death. S.Carolina will be duking it out for 3rd place; their SEC East rival for 3rd place will be TENN.

They should be optimistic. They won 7 games, including a bowl game, when most had them winning 4.

To your points:

Rattler may be the most talented QB (on paper) but remember, this guy lost his starting job after a bunch of preseason Heisman talk. He hasn't taken a snap for SC so I'd hold off on him being some kind of savior for them.

Tennessee still has work to do but don't forget they beat SC by 25 last year - after taking their foot off the gas the second half. I'll take the Vols in 2022.

Florida has a new coaching staff but do you think the Gators have less talent than SC? I don't.

Mizzou and Vandy - the two worst teams in the East - were one score wins for SC. I think they remain toss ups for 2022.

My money is on KY to take second in the East. Their cross division games are Ole Miss and Miss State - both winnable. SC draws Texas A&M and Arkansas. You see them winning either of those? I don't.

Not sure if you looked at their schedule but its pretty cupcake. Aside of us, jawjaw and nil central also known as A&M they have a very manageable schedule. Sets them up for a big disappointment when they come to Death Valley.

They are irrelevant that’s what I tell them. What have they won, 69 ACC championship which they are reminded of by the signage in their stadium. I do believe they have won the SECE one time. Unless the Rattler fellow is fast he could be in for a rough go.

OK Scattler could be their saving grace- and break the loosing streak-
Somebody could prevent the Tiger from getting from one side of the stadium to the other - by hijacking the bus! just saying-

Darn ... you've revealed U.of S.Carolina's best tactic for keeping our DL and LBs from obliterating Rattler (i.e., highjack the bus).

Lurking on TNet is probably the Beamer Bunch's best strategy (not kidding [too much]).
