1) we're the new kids on the block, so we're probably not gonna get the love that the established programs are gonna get. Fwiw, projections are showing Duke going on the road as well despite being a national seed, yet FSU will most likely be @ home despite not winning either the ACC regular season or tournament titles. (newer program, same as us)
2) as D1 Softball pointed out, we only played 2 ranked opponents (Duke & VT). While we have a good RPI (20th), SOS left something to be desired too (90th overall, 109th non-conf). Works to our team's detriment as well.
However, if our girls aren't rewarded w/ a home regional, I could see Coach Rittman using it as motivation as well to perhaps shock the world a little more.

Here's what Clemson is up against to host

There are 20 preliminary sites: Alabama, Michigan, Arizona, Missouri, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Clemson, Oregon, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, Texas, Georgia, UCLA, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, LSU, and Washington.
we have to find 4 that Clemson will host over:
VaTech and UGA are definitely out as a host sites.
Texas (39-11) went 1-2 in their conference tournament finishing 4th out of 6 teams. They lost to Texas Tech 5-1 in their final game, which was their first loss against an unranked opponent. They have an RPI of 10 and are 3-10 against ranked teams.
Kentucky (39-13) with an RPI of 18. 6-10 vs ranked opponents with an impressive regular season series win over a really good Alabama team. All other series against ranked opponents, they lost. They went 1-1 in their tournament, losing to the eventual champs Alabama.
Those are four teams I can't see the committee having above Clemson for a host site. Others like FSU, LSU, Tenn., Oregon, and ASU, I can make a compelling argument why Clemson should be seeded ahead of them. But, there is also the other side's argument.
Clemson should definitely be seeded above Michigan also, but Michigan will host b/c it's the lone representative from the BIG10 to host. They've only played Minnesota all year.
The bottom line, outside of Michigan, every one of the other teams' best win(s) are better than Clemson's best wins. Not playing FSU and ND really hurt Clemson in getting quality wins.
I think we host, but it will be close. Anyone know who makes up the committee? Is there representation from each conference?

Definitely well laid out. Thanks. We'll get the nod over FSU imo by winning the ACC and then playing in the final against Duke. At least I hope it goes down that way.
I just wonder if our lack of offense production against all quality pitching will hurt us. We'll know soon. Well earned regional at home imo.

Good thing the Football playoff committee doesn’t treat its playoffs like this. You can only play the teams on your schedule. Clemson is a FBS school and played mostly FBS teams. It’s not like they ran through a bunch of middle school teams. It’s a discredited to these women and all the hard work and wins they put together this year. If this site is right and the committee sees things the same way, I hope it motivates the ladies even more and they go crush everyone in there path.

But the idea that a team who is 42-6 is not in the top 16 in the country is a bit ridiculous imo
