Anyjuan want to explain the Clemson TO at the end ?

It was baffling to me ...
Louisville had no TO and could not stop the clock after a running play short of the goal line.

Only guess I have is that you stop the clock there and assume they’ll try to throw the ball the next couple downs so if they score on 3rd or 4th (incomplete would stop clock in each case) you would have some time left to try for a miracle. If they scored it would have been tough regardless.

Said he did it to maybe save enough time to go back down and kick a field goal if the Cards got a TD. And he wanted to save the other timeout for that too

I didn't like the call.. but thought, ok, save some clock and

set the D. That logic is shot when we didn't take a TO after 3rd down. I don't get it.
Or the runs and done.

Lost yardage on the play after timeout so Dabo said he felt like D had a good chance and wanted them to have no time to discuss. I like his logic in this situation.

the TO. On 3rd down they ran to the corner and we stopped them at the 2.

Like not taking the field goal --> in hind sight I am 100% OK now but was surprised at the time.

I thought they should have called it earlier.

Once Louisville got to the two yard line, time was not a problem for them.
They had plenty of time to run their four plays.
But if they scored, we were going to have no time left without stopping the clock.
They didn’t score so it’s moot, but it sure looked like they would.
Down one point, we would have needed every second to mount a drive for a FG attempt.

Bingo! This exactly!
Dabo continually baffles with his clock management.

This. I agreed with the TO in order to have some time if they scored. After 3rd down I also agreed with the no TO so UL would be somewhat rushed on 4th.

I believe it was that our defense looked a little confused and he wanted to make sure all were in sync.

To coach up the D on what to look for.

They seemed prepped although that Louisville receiver on the south east corner of end zone could have killed us if QB flung it to him.

Dabo said in his press conference

It was to conserve time to give them a chance if they scored. But there was only 10 seconds left when Clemson took over on downs. If he had not called the timeout Louisville would’ve been forced to pass on 3rd down which would mean there would’ve been more time left whether they scored on third or fourth down and he still would’ve had his time out. It all worked out, but unless Dabo also wanted to just settle the defense down (he didn’t mention this when asked the question his press conference), I don’t think it was a good move from a clock management standpoint. From a mathematical standpoint, it’s indefensible.

I thought the same thing at the time, but as it turned out I guess the were right to call it. Proof's in the pudding.
