Coots may have committed recruiting violation?

Jan 31, 2018, 5:50 AM

Coots saying Marcus Lattimore paying dividends in recruiting. He let DT Rick Sandige speak to Clowny on the phone during recruiting trip. Ohio State got into trouble with Micah Parsons and had to stop recruiting him because they let him talk to Kirk Heirbstreet and Eddie George. Two former players. Is this a violation? If so then Marcus is really paying dividends! Sandige is recruiting class window dressing anyways. Grades has him as a sign and place.

Heck, Gov. Goober (Hodges) was inviting prospective

chickenrecruits up to his private box at the football stadium and entertaining them during games not too long ago---chickens had to self-report after a couple of players spilled the beans.

And shenanigans like this is the main reason the high school championship games in SC should be rotated between every stadium in the state capable of handling the crowd and not held at Williams-Brice each and every year (there has been a little movement in this area--but I believe all the large HS championships are still held there without fail.)

If seeing W-B by the light of day is a recruiting violation, let them carry on! That can only help push 'cruits the away! ;)

They should just be held at The Citadel's stadium. First and foremost no one is concerned about the citadel stealing recruits. 2nd Charleston is the nicest city in the state and has the best weather in December, 3rd The stadium would fill up and not be 95% empty

Doesn't it help us for high school players to play in that dump?

Not sure on this case, but herbstreit incident was violation

Jan 31, 2018, 7:24 AM

Due to him being a part of the media, not that he was a former player

Isn't paying dividends a violation ? I don't law so I don't know , but sounds like Marcus' Coot Khaki pants might have a hole in the pocket.

According to some who seem to know the rules, Clowney called Lattimore,- not Sandige. Lattimore then asked Sandige if he'd like to speak to Clowney. Sandige said yes, so they worked around the violation doing all that. I'm sure it was planned, but there would no way to prove it.

I believe they commit a human decency violation every time they tell a recruit “come here to our beautiful campus where you’ll get a good education.”

Can the NCAA sanction them for that lie?

This is different, players are allowed to talk to former players. But they aren't allowed to associate with the media while on visits, Herbstreit is considered media and although he is a former player he therefore can't speak to Micah Parsons and that's what got them. Sandidge speaking to Clowney isn't a violation.
