That’s sounds like what it is like sometimes when I take my dad fishing. My dad accidentally threw one of my expensive rods into Merrill's Inlet. By some miracle we caught the line and got the rod and reel back. Then about 20 minutes later while the rod was in a holder that boat that takes people out for deep sea fishing came by. It created such wake my rod bounced 2 or 3 times before in slow motion it popped out of the holder into 40 feet of water. We buried it at sea. That was some of our coastal fishing luck. ??
That day you spent time with your kids will be a great memory your kids will never forget. Next time I hope you have better luck!

You are doing better than me.
I took my kids fishing a couple of weeks ago.
My daughter caught only a lily pad and all I caught was the fishing rod that my son threw in the water trying to learn how to cast.
