I think with BV, TE & Todd Bates leaving, along with other internal

Feb 2, 2022, 4:48 PM

changes , the TP, and NIL along with some underhanded recruiting I think Dabo and his staff did a great job making Clemson a better football team.

When I posted about the negative affects NIL and the TP could affect the Tigers in a negative way a lot of people said I was over reacting. Do you think I am over reacting now??

Also, how do you feel about a coach who continues to recruit for Clemson while publicly being the top candidate for another school as the next HC accepting one of the players committed to the school he left. I am speaking about BV and the Kane kid.

IMO BV should have told any commitments that he had contact with while recruiting for Clemson that he would not sign them. I think this should even apply to recruit’s that a coach has been recruiting even though he is not committed. I am not openly excusing BV of anything unethical. But if it had been me in BV’s position I would have told the kid because of the inside advantage I had recruiting them for Clemson I could not recruit them for OU. I would encourage them to stay with their original choice if it was going to be the Tigers or the school of their choice other than OU. I feel the same way about TE. I don’t know if a kid flipped to Virginia when TE was hired but if they did I would not sign them at Virginia either. I think it should be an rule put in place by the NCAA.

Honestly, I was very surprised BV signed the Kane Kid and how quickly he seemed to forget how well he was treated at Clemson making him the highest paid coordinator. I wanted to see what others thought. Both he and TE were treated very well and were well paid.

Based on what I have read OU will be an average team in the SEC. I wish BV and TE well but I hope neither burned bridges that lead back to Clemson. You never know when you may need help or a job.

I could swear I read somewhere they got the blessing from Dabo before the kid switched up to OU.

sorry, but this view is a bit short-sighted for a lot of reasons, first and foremost business and relationships. Kane obviously felt that the stronger tie as a Midwest kid was to BV, a Kansas St legend now coaching at a Blue Blood which would be closer to his family for games and visits. Kind of a no brainer imo. No jars feelings and look, I love BV and all he did here for us. That said his life and that of his family going forward is tied to his success at OU. It's sink or swim, and with the level of success they have enjoyed the last decade or so, the leash will not be overly long. Also, if we follow your logic, does that mean coach Eason could not sign Cafen Story? Because honestly I'd much rather have him than a slightly undersized LB for immediate needs. Would I prefer to have both, well yeah, with a side of Kate Beckinsale as well! But this is big time business and sports, it's not show friends. BV did NOTHING wrong and I wish him well.

I 100% agree with your assessment on…

Kate Beckinsale!

I never said BV did anything wrong. I have made that clear. I just stated if I were in that same position I would have handled it differently. That’s my opinion.

I respect BV, Todd Bates and TE and appreciate all the contributions they made during their time at Clemson.

College athletics has just become a very shady business at many schools. Coaches lying to recruits, lying about other schools and their coaches, even with NIL players are still being bought.

I am glad we have Dabo as our HC and his coaching staff with character and integrity who places the future of the players first.

It always amazes me that someone with thousands posts where they were right but never where they were wrong. You can bet BV had the ok on the Clemson coaches/staff he hired and the Kane kid from Dabo

I don’t know why but it’s felt like Dabo really wasn’t out on the recruiting trail much these last few years. This off season it’s felt like he’s been all over the place. I hope it continues cause I think it makes a difference him not only going out and seeing players but also creating positive relationships with coaches all over the country. Bodes well for the future!
