Rencher coming back was a wild card. There will be "pressure" to have him see at least a little playing time due to his status as a team leader. That naturally lessens carries for other, more talented guys.

I agree mostly. Rencher has earned those carries and is a respectable back.

I have all the respect in the world for Rencher as a team leader. But, after all his knee issues, his actual running ability would have to be considered almost "walk-on" class, compared to the talent of all the others in the stable.

I have to disagree. I don't see how this year would be any different from last year, and last year he only received a total of 24 carries which came out to 2 per game, and 7 of those came in the Wake game. In fact, we had 3 games where he had no carries, and 2 others where he only got 1 carry. Sure, would the other backs like to have those carries? I'm sure they would, but I don't see that low number of carries as being enough to decide whether another running back wants to stay or leave.

I might backtrack on there being TWO more. I would put the odds of Lyn-J leaving at more than even money if he loses the starting job and falls down the depth chart. I wouldn't try to predict the second one, but even then, it would still be a numbers game, with far too much talent, and only one football.

Agree.
Rencher is a 6th year leader, and at best, our 6th best back. He's a class act with a bright future. He has decided to stay a 6th year on scholarship, apparently with Elliott's and Swinney's encouragement, which is a pretty strong statement about the character of a practice player. Elliott and Dabo may see future coaching potential.
Have we seen Dixon's ceiling or does he have another gear? We'll find out versus UGA. Dukes is not getting a lot of press. He may be working hard for that Clemson diploma. If so, good on him.
Hopefully, Pace, Shipley and Mafah will get a lot of reps this summer and be ready for UGA on 9/04. Go Tigers!

I believe that you're right, and if they are thinking that way, for there future, I hope that they will go ahead and pull that trigger. That will help the ones that will be staying, and they can be fighting it out with each other for the starting position, and the 2nd, and 3d position. IMO, 3 or 4 good RBs are plenty to have in the RB room bc, they can push each to be the best they are going to be!!!

Remember what had to be one of his first Clemson carries. Believe it was at the end of the Syracuse game in 2019. Maybe a minute left. We were up big. Hand off up the middle to give the 3rd string guy experience. Zoom! 57 yard touchdown. The other folks I was watching the game with all said "Who the heck was that!" Nobody knew. Great memory. I'll miss him.

Well it's a "ME" world now and everyone thinks it is easier to leave than to stay and fight for a job so I agree one or two more may leave. We have had very few go so far (20 compared to 85 for Bamma) but with the new NCAA rule for one-time immediate eligibility, out now we can probably expect more to go for instant success somewhere else. That is why you have to build depth every single year, expecting to lose 2's and 3's.
