The Florida State myth?

ok, so NO players drafted in the first 3 rounds of this year's draft.

Let's look at FSU's rank with recruiting classes for players who would have been eligible for this draft.

2007 21st (redshirt seniors)
2008 9th (seniors)
2009 7th (juniors)

So what is it? Lack of player development/coaching? Biased/skewed recruit rankings? Combination of both?

Your thoughts....

In defense of FSU,

and god do I really hate to utter those words, looking at their depth chart from last year I really don't see a lot of draft eligible players.

It shows how wildly inaccurate these rankings can be,

how many offensive playermakers Clemson has stolen from them in Florida, how questionable Jimbo Fisher is as an offensive coordinator and how many players FSU has coming back next year. They have recruited extremely well defensively in the last 2 years and should be VERY good defensively next year.

Offense will still have Jimbob Boyeeeee at the helm, though.

The services may have missed badly on O'Leary and Wilder

or at least not at the their current positions. Still, 2 highly rated offensive recruits that don't seem to have difference making ability.

I think the attitude around there has hindered them, too

Aside from having a lot of young talent that's not draft eligible I think they have also not had the type of dynamic playmakers on offense they had in their heyday. No Peter Warricks, Warrick Dunns, etc. on campus. I also think there is a sense of entitlement there and they are living on past glories, and the praise from the media that has been mostly undeserved seems to kind of fuel underachievement right now.

Also, not sure how great Jimbo is as a HC.

I've believe he was running the program four or five years before Bowden left. I've said it many times here. The media is unintentionally helping him keep his job with the preseason ranking that allow them to lose a few games and still be in the top 25 but the fans will be screaming for his head after next season.

I not sure the player ranking coming out of HS is wrong...

at all. I think the problem is with skill development.

Sometimes it's the developers and some times it's the players.
