The sleeze in this admin is intolerable, unexcusable

May 16, 2013, 11:06 AM

Face it libs, the CIC is either:
1) A liar or
2) Totally incompetent for not knowing what is going on around him by basically direct reporting agencies/heads.

I personally believe #1. It is Chicago-style politics in style. The CIC also has no friends in DC. His cabinet meetings are a sham; the Committee on Economic Recovery in his 1st Term never met. The House of Kenya cards is crumbling...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, the latest is that government is too "vast" for him.

May 16, 2013, 11:16 AM

No chit, that's what they came up with for David Axelrod yesterday.

Correct. Either he's completely incompetent, or a liar.

You might call it Reagan-esque.

May 16, 2013, 11:47 AM

WASHINGTON — Former President Ronald Reagan, in testimony made public Thursday, said he had no recollection of ever being told that profits from Iran weapons sales were diverted to the Nicaraguan contras, and that he ``never had any inkling`` White House aide Oliver North was secretly helping the guerrillas.

Reagan, who was subpoenaed by the defense in the upcoming trial of his onetime national security adviser, John Poindexter, neither clearly exonerated Poindexter nor critically undermined his defense. Nor did his videotaped testimony do much to answer questions about who authorized the diversion at a time when such aid to the contras was illegal.

But his deposition did reveal startling gaps in the memory of the 79-year-old former president. In all, Reagan said ``I don`t recall`` or ``I can`t remember`` 88 times in the eight hours of testimony taken Feb. 16-17 in Los Angeles.

There have been tons and tons of liars, cheats and theives in the past....doesn't make it ok today. Its just your party's fault for not presecuting or making a larger case and getting the outcome you desired.

I wasn't implying that it makes it ok.

I'm implying that all these outraged Republicans are a bunch of flaming hypocrites.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There is no equivalence to show hypocrisy.

May 16, 2013, 12:15 PM

Obama started off with candidates for his cabinet who didn't pay their taxes, revolving door access to SEIU and other unions and lobbyists, and lied through his teeth about the costs for his health care plan.

All the while getting a complete and total pass, for whatever reasons that you want to attribute it to.

This is schadenfreude, nothing more, nothing less.

May 17, 2013, 1:27 AM [ in reply to So becuase someone said somethign or did something in the ]

right wingers have no problem when one of their own commit a bunch of scandals. The last 3 Republican President's scandals pretty much dwarf all other Presidential scandals other than Richard Nixon. So if right wingers are son concerned of scandals then they would be highly critical of the Republican party which has been nothing but scandal ridden since the Richard Nixon era.

Here's what I'm critical of: Government.

The Times said the Tower commission had concluded that Reagan, "far from being remote from the administration's Iran arms dealings," was briefed regularly. But "often he simply asked questions about the American hostages being held in Lebanon and told anecdotes, according to an official who has seen the report," the Times said.

May 16, 2013, 1:22 PM

of improvement Reagan had in his two terms in the general welfare (housing, interest rates, unemployment) of the country.

It isn't going to happen. Reagan isn't my hero, he was just what the country needed at the time, after the Watergate years and sourpuss Carter's malaise attitude.

"Every man is my superior, in that I may learn something from him."

No he doesn't.

May 16, 2013, 1:30 PM

By that game of logic, Obama is far better than Dubya because Dubya has a net negative over 8 years and Barry will have a net positive, and Obama is better than Reagan because Reagan tripled the debt.

But none of that is relevant to this thread, which had to do with sleaze in the administration.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I didn't mention Dubya. I just wanted to clarify my position

May 16, 2013, 1:38 PM

where Reagan is concerned, whom you referenced.

Reagan catches crap for sleaze in his administration, but he had to deal with an adversarial Congress just about the entire time he was President. He could certainly have taught Obama a lesson in how to advance a legislative agenda with an opposite party Congress. He and Tip O'Neill met often; Obama doesn't even meet with the leaders of his own party!

As far as tripling the debt, that is technically true, but revenues went up every year he was President, which is something that is frequently omitted from these conversations.

Re: I didn't mention Dubya. I just wanted to clarify my position

May 16, 2013, 1:41 PM

You didn't mention Dubya. I did, in order to show why your argument about Barry and Ronnie doesn't really fly.

So I guess we agree that Ronnie and Barry caught crap for sleaze, and that they both had to deal with an adversarial Congress.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You don't agree that Obama has failed at basic leadership?

May 16, 2013, 1:55 PM

I was working and paying taxes when Carter, and then Reagan were President. I remember magazine covers saying "He did it again!" when Reagan had achieved passage of a bill. Reagan also had an adversarial press and media, who portrayed him as a buffoon, and a B-movie actor.

Obama wouldn't have survived a term in that environment.

"Every man is my superior, in that I may learn something from him."

The country went down during Reagan's second term….

May 17, 2013, 1:37 AM [ in reply to Obama's got three years in his second term to show the kind ]

the failure of trickle down economics that led to tons of wall street scandals, giving money to Saddam Hussein, the Iran-Contra scandal, the 87 recession, the rise of the crack epidemic, his inaction and intolerance towards the AIDS issue, the failed war on drugs, the funding of the group of Arabs on their jihad against Russia in Afghanistan which would eventually become Al Qaeda.
