Gotta hand it to JK

Almost all of his threads get a lot of responses, often triple digit replies. He's quite polarizing, but seems to strike a nerve and generate interest from Tnetters. He seems to get more reaction than our beloved RevDodd and Joe21 did, and our eccentric at times LBB lol.
Judge's support of the basketball team is great and wanting more support from fans and the athletic department and the school is commendable. The thing I don't like is his kind of subtle attacks on the football program. Comparisons are ok, but repeated knocks on such things as in house promotions and bringing back former players and such is another.
Clemson has always been a football school and the football revenue provides a lot of support for a lot the other sports at Clemson. I'm sure Duke fans want more fan, financial, booster, athletic department, and school support for their football program, but I doubt they complain about support for the basketball program in comparison.

I think he is a Brownell fan first, and Clemson basketball fan second. He also seems to have quite a disdain for other Clemson fans and Clemson traditions (see his comments about orange overalls for one example). He is very jealous of the football support in general and specifically has trouble with the love some fans have for Dabo. He seems arrogant and elitist about his knowledge of basketball compared to most other Clemson supporters. I believe he has a close relationship with Brownell, which is why he so vigorously defends him no matter what. I also think he is scared of making a change and he may truly believe Brownell is the best we can do. That’s fine if that is the case, but I wish he would stop gaslighting us that Brownell is more successful than he really is. JK could have been much more persuasive for basketball support if he hadn’t been so invested in tying to prop up Brownell.
This shouldn’t be an us against them situation. We all want football AND basketball to be successful at Clemson. He’s right we need to support basketball better, but that’s not gonna happen as long as Brownell is the coach. I was a season ticket holder when Barnes was creating an environment which people wanted to be a part. Students were camping out to get tickets and Barnes would bring them pizza. I was also there for OP, who wasn’t the same personality as Rick, but man was his style of play exciting. Brownell has done some good things and deserves credit. It’s just time for a change. The program needs new life. And if we need to put more money into it in order to hire a good coach and top assistants, let’s do it.

Yes, Judge Keller is very passionate for BB and maybe even more passionate for Coach BB.
That said he’s not going to be able to see that Brad has leveled out in his ability to guide or lead a team that needs that extra bit of knowledge or pizzaz or whatever it takes to get them over the hump of leading and then not being able to keep that lead to the buzzer.
Oh, i don’t resent being labeled Eccentric! ??

You have it backwards.

I'm a Clemson basketball fan first, and a Brad Brownell fan second.
I support Brad, for four reasons:
1. He's our coach. 2. He has a really tough job to do. 3. He's a very good basketball coach. 4. He's a genuinely good guy.
I ultimately want what's best for our basketball program. I believe Brad can succeed here, even more than he has, if given more resources. However, if the administration decides to go in a different direction, I will support that and hope the new coach is in a better situation.
Some of your other comments don't warrant a response. I'm sorry you have formed some of the opinions you have of me.

The fact that #1 is “He’s our coach” and #3 is “He’s a very good basketball coach…”

Says a lot.
If the #1 reason ain’t “He’s a good (more like great/incredible coach)” then it’s probably not gonna end well at Clemson. It is a tougher job and there are a a lot of struggles in the ACC historically, but oh yeah, he’s a pretty good coach! That ain’t gonna move that proverbial mountain here.
And #1, #2, and #4 describe Larry Shyatt. Jus sayin.

Put it this way;
If your goal was to garner support for Clemson basketball, would you express yourself on this forum like the good Judge does, or would you take another approach designed to cultivate that support?
If your goal was to express pride and admiration for the Clemson football program and Dabo Swinney, would you express yourself like Judge Keller does on this forum?
If you respected Clemson traditions and fans, would you express yourself like JK does on this forum?

Agree with several of your points. The envy he has for football is beyond healthy. You mentioned some about football. There are many others where he actually called out specific football players (which should never ever happen) - as recently as a couple of weeks ago - in the last case, he told the offensive linemen to “shut up” about wanting to be tough. Another post rebutted in the past couple of days showed him fabricating about a games support when it was sold out. Posting on a football thread asking if they want another football natty or basketball. Clemson is a football school. We all know why. Because football wins. Maybe not every year, but even during tough times, we still averaged maybe a 7-4 record. Duke and unc are reversed for the same reasons. If football at Clemson was averaging 2-9 seasons, then the thought would be different. But when some fan continues to talk above “value” and being proud of finishing ahead of where the media thinks we would end up - that is nothing but mush BS. 12 years is a long time hoping that someone can move the needle. 8 too many in my opinion. Will we ever be a basketball school? Who cares? The right question to ask is if we become competitive and exciting - will the fans show up? And we know the answer to that is yes. Follow up to that question - will additional money come to support a winning program like that? The answer is more than likely. So, as they say “ if you build it - they will come”. Triggering posts by one individual are nothing other than that - old, tired, repeated, and sad when he attacks football with passive aggressive posts like you mentioned.

I'm not jealous of it. I don't resent it.
I am very proud of our football program. I've been a fan for nearly 40 years. I'm a Clemson alum.
With that said, the level of homerism for our football program here gets nauseating at times, to the point that any disagreements or criticisms are deemed "bashing." But I realize that the same can probably be said for me at times when it comes to basketball.
I would argue that we aren't a football school because we win. We win because we are a football school. I've always said that football's popularity isn't just because the sport of football is popular in the south, but also because football games are an event. There is tailgating, socializing, etc. That has a lot to do with football's popularity (not just at Clemson, but most other places too).
There are two times I recall mentioning Clemson football players by name in a negative fashion. I didn't feel that they were representing our school well. I'm sorry it offended you or came across as if I wasn't still cheering for them and supporting them.

Pathological is a more apt description. Dude can't handle any criticism of BB whatsoever---justified as it may be. Insanely jealous of the football program, and particularly jealous of CDS's success.
Often wondered what his connection is to BB...family? Friend?

You did lie, about the Virginia attendance, and have not answered numerous responses once the proof was posted.

I have my own, in fact.
I handle criticism of Brad better than most of you handle criticism of Dabo. Look at the thousands of posts here about our offense this year, our recruiting this year, or our handling of the transfer portal to see how many overly sensitive, butthurt fans we have when anyone says anything that disagrees with or questions Dabo.
Again, I am not jealous of football's success. I'm proud of it. I'm a big Clemson football fan, too.

I'm proud of our football program. It deserves every dollar it gets.
I do think our focus on football can limit us when it comes to basketball. I don't say that out of jealousy or resentment, but out of concern for our basketball program. I'm fine with us being a football school, but not to the point that it results in a failure to properly support our basketball program.
Thank you for your post. I hope this clears up my stance.
