should we pump the breaks a little?

finishing 2nd or 3rd likely means we go to AZ to play in the semi's...
what would assure us a 4th place finish and game in ATL?
loose to FSU, but win ACC? any other ideas?

the playoff committee will not give the 4 seed home field advantage. However, if Alabama is #1 I don't know if they'd consider that home field advantage for us.

I think if OSU/Michigan winner ends up as the #1 seed, and Bama or Clemson is the #2 seed, we still end up in Atlanta.
According to the playoff website: "When assigning teams to sites, the committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home-crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed." http://www.collegefootballplayoff.com/selection-committee-protocol (Section 9-B.)
I don't see it making much difference for OSU/Mich whether they play in Ga or Az, but it makes a huge difference for Bama or Clemson. They want to sell tickets, and a Bama/Clemson matchup in Atlanta would sell extremely well.

The point is we can't lose. That's the real hurdle that we face as a team...if lose one game Louisville will get in over us even if we won our conference. It's that simple.

This is just false. Head to head and a conference championship? Louisville has to hope for 2 conference champions with 2 losses.

Never pump the brakes......it takes more gas to get back to speed
Would love to see Bama/Tiger game in Atlanta.

A&M has a much better chance, in my opinion

Although it might even be tough for them because their strength is running the ball. If Dobbs at Tennessee or Knight at A&M were better passers, I would almost expect them to beat Bama. The best thing would be for TAMU to beat Bama, then for Ole Miss to beat TAMU.

We could finish first if...

Alabama loses or looks shaky, and if we really hammer FSU and play a relatively highly ranked team in the ACCC. There's a good chance whoever Ohio State or Michigan play in the B1G Championship won't be ranked very highly, and the same goes for whoever Alabama plays in the SECC. The biggest threat, in my opinion, is either Ohio State or Michigan blowing the other team out in the head to head matchup and then winning easily the B1G Championship. Unless Alabama just kills it, it would be hard not to put the B1G champion at #1.

Considering I see Bama losing a game somewhere, I say we could end #1 once the time playoff committee rankings come out. If they do not lose, they stay #1, winner of OSU-Mich is #2, and Clemson would be 3. I'd say there's no way we finish 4 so he only sure way to get ATL is if we are #1. Doubt OSU-Mich would choose ATL.
