New Story: Who can replace Austin Bryant at defensive end?

Who can replace Austin Bryant at defensive end?

We learned Tuesday that defensive end Austin Bryant will miss the season opener at Auburn with a broken bone in his foot. That takes away the Tigers' only experienced player at a position that lacks snaps across the board. Who will step up? Full Story »

I think any of our guys can but I feel like Brent will

Aug 16, 2016, 5:20 PM

Put these guys to work competing for the opportunity to start and even with that I believe he will rotate them and coach them up on the sideline. Coaching them up into maturity at DE. We will be much deeper there by the time Austin comes back.

I think Chris Register can do it but I believe Sterling will get the start. You?

Go Tigers!!

Auburn will be so busy filling their holes that it will be hard taking advantage of ours.

We'll miss Austin for sure, but Auburn's biggest problem will be stopping No. 4, not our starting defensive ends.

Honestly, is there a single team in all of college football that wouldn't be scared to death of Wilkins, Watkins, Pagano, & Yeargin? I mean, that sounds pretty fn solid to me. We will be fine everyone. Relax. At least the news wasn't that Register decided to quit today to be a secretary for Rubio. We are going to be FINE!

Anybody have the link to Yeargin's hit in the orange bowl?

I tried looking it up but couldn't find it.

Tough deal losing Bryant, and I don't want to take for

Aug 17, 2016, 12:03 AM

granted that he's going to be bouncing back against the Bees come Thursday late September. He definitely showed that he's got some big nasty in him when it counts, and that's not an easy thing to count on behind him. Neither is how a recovery from this will work for him this time around, on a different foot.

However, this is a great opportunity for a young but talented troop behind him to really step it up and break through the learning curve over these final few weeks. These coaches walk the walk, and we've got great student-athlete leaders on defense that will help guide the way as well.

Go Tigers! And Get well Austin Bryant!

Well...for the glass half full point of view - we still have 2.5 weeks to get someone prepared to take Bryant's place for the Auburn game. I have faith in Venables' and Hobby's ability to have two DE's coached up and ready to go by September 3rd. If this had happened three days before the game then that would make the task a whole lot harder...

Xavier Kelly, go show what you've got. He was going to play this season anyway. I'd like to see him get out there.
