Martavis Bryant and Corey Crawford are two names who pop into my head off the bat that went through JUCO. Maybe not as much, but we do it too.

Both went to Prep School

A lot of difference in that from Prep School you still have 5 years to play 4.
From Juco you may have 3 years to play 2 or only 2 to play to if you redshirted in Juco. Admittedly very few redshirt in Juco.

Ah I was mistaken. Although I still feel like we had someone very recently who went through JUCO.

And the reason I bring it up a guy I played against in HS went to juco an now has big time offers and he was no stars and unranked out of HS.

I'm a bit torn

You look at Newton and Nick Failry and you see the benefits of JUCO. However, our schools academics is the most important thing. Barker is dead set on making Clemson a top 20 university and I believe that we're right around 22-24. While I would like to take a JUCO player here and there, I don't see how a few would affect our scores that much, I agree that academics comes first.

Because we want guys who can get into school.

Even back when we did take a few jucos

May 1, 2012, 8:29 AM

I think we only did it if the player graduated early from juco and could enroll at Clemson in time for spring practice.
