If Lucas is still in a green no contact jersey; who are our expected corners going into the opener vs Georgia??

If I had to guess it would be Lewis and Terrell. Idk if Gipson has enough time to prepare for UGA but all talks he might get some time as well.

Would’ve been to get a starting level corner with some experience from the portal instead of hoping our young talent will be ready to play against Georgia asking for a lot from them imo

Definitely going to throw them in the fire. The game will be won with the front 7. If we can get constant pressure I think the secondary holds up. If we can’t get pressure corners might have a rough night. Feel confident in the safeties. Mickens and Barnes will be a good tandem.

I agree with that but what I saw against Kentucky has me a bit scared. We really can’t afford an injury at corner

free runners by experienced guys was bad. Maybe at least the new ones can figure out to not watch them just run by you.

Terrell will have one corner locked down. He was awesome last year and should be even better this year.

Um so you just proved his point? Barns is not ideal at corner. Lucas and Oliver have stayed injured. We will be relying on Terrell and Lewis to take the vast majority of the snaps against UGA and then throw in Strozier and the three freshman in for breathers. I too think that a depth pice would have been good to have at corner from the portal.

If that was the case you’d have to have a portal guy for every single position on the field. No way they could’ve known Lucas would not be healthy now. And no way to say he won’t be healthy on August 31. You don’t just go get a starting corner out of the portal because you want one either. They have to want you back. Terrell was always going to be a starter as long as he is healthy and does what he supposed to. Lucas is our other starter and there is quality depth with Lewis , Strozier, Oliver, Feagin and Gipson. I would also think that Barnes could play corner in a pinch.

We have a bunch of dudes competing, Goodwin says we have a ton of athletes back there that can run. I imagine Terrell will lock down a spot. Branden Strozier has been flashing some good things, Hampton and Feagan have been mentioned a lot. There could be some growing pains in replacing both starters, but we should be fine here down the stretch.
At linnebacker, Woodaz supposedly stepped up big time, the Coaches seem high on these guys. The Dline will be on par with what we had during our CFP runs, with Talnet and senior depth. They should get out of the gates running.

Don't forget that Barnes can play Corner. Also seems like everyone has forgot about Venables who should be starter at safety. On DEF we are good at DBs, we are thin at DE and any injuries at LB would be a huge blow unless some youth really steps up beyond Brown.

He is more of a nickle, but certainly a turnover machine. We will be on the field as much as possible t this year, but we are in trouble if he ends up on the boundary, he lines up more like an extra safety on the LOS or linebacker that can drop into coverage and still help in run support.

Definitely agree, we don't want to have to put Barnes at corner but he could play there. We are not thin at DBs by any means, I think we have some studs at DB and would be more concerned about DE or LB depth vs DBs.

Throwing it deep wasn’t really a part of Georgias game last year. I’m worried about the new pieces up front holding up against what should be an NFL-caliber offensive line

I wouldn’t say Clemson’s o line is quite nfl caliber, but they should be much improved this year. Georgia’s d line may have some trouble holding up though due to who Our guys go up against in practice everyday though. Capehart, Williams, Woods, Page, Burley and Parker are no joke good. Then to have Denhoff, Green, Brown-Shuler, Mayo Lawson, Patterson and Thompson when those guys get tired. There’s no rest for the wicked.
