Hopefully, Rittman will be able to address hitting in the off-season. It's going to be tough getting out of a regional in our current state.

Whether softball or baseball it is tough to beat good pitching. Hopefully we will get to host and make some noise in the post season.

Hosting as the 16th seed (all projections indicated so) would have been worst case scenario. We would have had to play Oklahoma as the lowest seed hosting.
These girls are in a mental slump. FSU took their mojo and they haven’t been the same team since. They need a sports psychologist to help pull them out of the funk. They are talented enough to make a run in the WCWS. Baseball and softball players have to believe they are the best. Mental state is everything. They aren’t in a good place right now. UNC should have been a run rule game. Duke should have been a two to three run victory.

Not fixable for this year. Only recruiting good hitters that have longevity will fix the problems. Transfers were only good for defense.

Obviously you haven’t watched them much or looked at their numbers. They have one of the highest OB%, Slugging %, and batting averages in all of softball. They are in a slump. It happens to the best of teams. FSU got in their heads and broke their spirit. I’ve watched every game multiple times. They aren’t showing the same fire or belief they had early in the season. Rittman has done an unbelievable job building a solid lineup from top to bottom. Baseball and softball players are the most superstitious athletes on the planet. I remember throwing away batting gloves because they ran out of hits. I threw spikes away because they lost their mojo. I’ve put Gatorade wrappers given by hot girls in my batting gloves to channel good mojo. Those things work. Feel good play good think good. It all feeds off the other.

We just did that unfortunately. Sadly we're not fixing our hitting issues until the off season. Being bruttaly honest, anyone not named Cagle hasn't hit a good pitcher in the last two years. And really we haven't ever hit good pitching. We've won some games since our inception because of a generation player.

Ladies all need to get to work in the batting cages and stop swinging at bad pitches! Opposing pitchers are taking advantage of our over-aggressiveness early in the batting counts! Be patient and wait for your pitch!

Wow, the pitchers have been dealing. Yesterday we won 2-1 and today there were only 5 hits by Duke and none by us. Softball is all about pitching.

Exceptionally good considering this is only our 4th complete season.
But we are not elite and far too dependent on 1 player.
It will be interesting to see if we can replace Cagle & Millie and continue to grow and improve as a program.

This coaching staff really needs to come up with a game plan to fix the hitting. They have a little time off so hopefully they can figure something out. Probably wishful thinking this late in the season. The thing that is worrisome is they aren't even competitive at the plate.

A lot can happen in a month. A month, maybe 6 weeks ago, Clemson softball looked invincible and Clemson baseball looked like it might be showing signs of life. Softball still has the potential to end the season strong, but baseball is the team that is hitting on all cylinders. Softball ought to host, and baseball will host as well if we keep playing at the same level.

Honestly, I don't see us going anywhere unless we are in a regional with some weak teams. I'm not sure you can "fix" hitting in a short period of time, or even in a long period if you don't have natural hitters ..... and we don't have very many presently. Our batting averages tanked when we started playing better teams.
Cagle is an exceptional and generational player, but even she has struggled a bit in the last few weeks .... probably due to playing better teams and maybe the weight of the rest of the team on her back. Our pitching, besides Cagle, has to improve. Our pitchers are good, but far from great, like other teams we have faced. This team reminds me of a Marine Corps fast-pitch team I payed on. Our worst of three pitchers was 9-0 because we played him only against our worst opponents. Our second pitcher was like 7-2 and our best pitcher was 5-4 because we pitched him against our best opponents. So wins and losses for a pitcher do not tell the whole story.

It is easy to see our team stats compared to the nation. We are #2 in ERA. #21 in batting avg. #4 in fielding etc. etc.
