Coaches don't miss shots and Kentucky pays no more than every other team. One and done teams come and go but that is their choice.

His skill is finagling the rules and getting payoffs to the ones that matter to get those elite blue chips to Kentucky. But with the NIL, maybe his skill is now obsolete. He may not know how to operate with free and open cheating.

his bones embracing the 1 and done rule at a time when other coaches fought it. He encouraged recruits to come to Kentuck.. stay a year and get to the NBA.. That was his whole basketball scheme.. get the best talent.. win quick.. and get a fresh crop every year.

when his main bagman, World Wide Wes, accepted a job with the New York Knicks. To your point, he’s never been a good coach. His “dribble drive” offensive is just another name for playground basketball.

I think Calipari actually has the highest winning percentage of any active D-1 coach...and that includes Coach K. Calipari consistently makes deep tourney runs. He's been coaching for 30+ years and thats only the second time ever he didn't make it out of the first round.
Its fair to criticize his strategy/X & O's, but thats not the end all be all. He does all of the other things better than most.

their loss is still on him...it was clear he didnt know what to do coaching wise in that game and have zero offense outside of throwing to the big guy or their little guard driving. That team has been slipping for a few weeks now and last night was the culmination.

Results are definitely worse, but driving minivan at Daytona won't let you be competitive. I'd love to see what Brownell could do with even half of Kentucky's talent.

The racing analogy...Brad can drive the car veery very well but he doesn't have the ability to build a completive car himself. Calipari isn't the best driver but can build a car that always competes.....of course it helps being at Kentucky too.
Part of being a coach is building and managing a team ...it ain't all xs and os. Besides BB stinks in late game coaching, we have countless examples of that.
