Recruiting at Tennessee

Has anyone noticed that Butch Jones has Tennessee competing for top recruits these days? I'm not implying any malfeasance on their part although I do wonder who would willingly want to live there. I bring it up because this does spell the end for scu's ride in the middle of the sec east. Normalcy has returned with uf, uga, and ut (if their talent pans out) all competing for championships. I guess the difference now is that Vanderbilt isn't a doormat and mizzou will give uk and scu some competition for last place.

For as long as Steven Orr Spurrier decides to coach there.
I hate him, but that doesn't mean I don't recognize his abilities as a ball coach. He's one of the top Head Coaches of all time, and there really isn't any reasonable debate against it.
He'll keep the ##### competitive for as long as he decides to stay.

Well if we would have had to sit through years of dreams of being successful and failing with coaches that has taken other teams to the top. We to would see Steve Spurrier as the God of football.` Spurrier to the coots is like a man walking across the desert without any water. The man in the desert after a while keeps seeing a pool of clear cool water that will save him. The coots will keep seeing Spurrier as the coach that saves them. When it's all over for Spurrier at South Carolina, and his end is near. The coots will finally realize what the man in the desert realize before his death. It was all just a Mirage.

While Spurrier will be remembered as one of the top head coaches of all time for what he accomplished at Florida (where he could simply "out talent" most of the teams he faced), since arriving at USC-lite, other than landing the program on probation again, surpassing Lou's record for player arrests, buying the team some nifty fifth place rings, and beating his rival, Spurrier really hasn't won squat at $CU. No conference championships, and no BCS bowl appearances. The one and only trip he did make to Atlanta for the $ECCG (in a year when the $EC East was as bad as it has been in over four decades) resulted in a beat-down of biblical proportions. In fact, if not for beating Clemson, phallus fans would have been calling for his head long ago which pretty much makes him a reincarnation of Tommy Bowden without the morals, character, or integrity.

Respectfully so of course.
Think how historically bad the fake USC has been. Just reeking of disappointment for decades.
They're 7-1 over the last four years against two programs that own them (UGA and Clemson), and they owe it all to the Head Ball Sac.
Look I hate him too, but you gotta give credit where credit is due.

Probation Steve has never had an undefeated season

he MIGHT be in the top 25 historical coaches list. The bottom part of it. he had a good run at Florida because UGA (Goff, Donnan), LSU (Hallman, Archer), Bama (Shula, Dubose, etc) etc were going through really down periods. All he had to do was beat Fulmer at Tenn and he could win the SEC every year during that era.
He has done wonders with the flaming garbage heap in Columbia, though. Definitely has them as good as they will ever be, past or future.

Also nailed it. His best coaching job was at Duke. If he had stayed there, however, defenses would have caught up with his pass-happy offense and the results would have decreased. He became a hot HC prospect just in time, IMO.

You South Carolina folks have it easy. Not so here in TN.

If your state need an enema everybody know the hose goes in Columbia.
It's confusing here with three or four buttholes like Knoxville, Memphis, Chattanooga and Nashville.

Knoxville or Memphis. I can't speak to Chattanooga all that much. It's getting overcrowded, and it will suck in 10 years, but the SW side of Nashville towards Franklin where all the money and stars live will always be nice.
Going back to my earlier statement, I can see why a kid would choose Knoxville over Columbia. Not sure if the one in MO is dumpy or not.

UT has opened a new line of credit at the Bank of Tennessee.
Sorry to sound so cynical, but many of us have seen the Vols modus operandi for years and know that a skunk won't change its stripes.
