NEW RULE No more mixing politics with pizza.

Jan 9, 2013, 1:15 PM

The filthy rich founder of Papa John’s, John Schnatter, said he’d cut his employees’ hours to avoid the costs of Obamacare. This is where I’d normally suggest boycotting Papa John’s, but that’s like telling people to boycott sadness. Nobody eats Papa John’s because they like it. They eat it because Domino’s won’t deliver to crack houses.

may not be great pizza, but how is it nasty?***

In comparison with good pizza.

Jan 9, 2013, 1:44 PM

Most chain pizza franchises are ungood.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

doesn't make it "nasty," though

Jan 9, 2013, 1:46 PM

I usually reserve "nasty" for stuff that is inedible or that will almost certainly make you sick if you eat it.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I reserve the term 'nasty' for food I don't wanna eat.

Jan 9, 2013, 1:49 PM

And since I'm known for eating almost anything that someone, somewhere calls 'food', that's saying a lot.

As in, 'McDonalds hamburgers are nasty'.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

seems childish...

Jan 9, 2013, 1:50 PM

"broccoli is nasty," "carrots are nasty," "anything spicy is nasty," etc. Not that you should care, but just a pet peeve of mine.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Broccoli and carrots are wonderful. And I love spicy food.

Jan 9, 2013, 1:55 PM

McDonalds and Papa Johns are nasty.

And I don't care, but it seems childish that this should bother you.

exactly, if an employee gets sick and dies, you can always hire another.

so not the government's problem, nor the cost of doing business. There has to be a better solution then citing personal accountability, because in the end, when a person repeatedly ends up in the emergency room, we all pay.

good lawd... it's like you're just making stuff up

Jan 9, 2013, 1:31 PM

You're the first person I've ever heard who thought Domino's was actually better than Papa John's. In fact, whenever people first started hearing about Papa John's they liked it because the pizzas seemed higher quality than Pizza Hut or Domino's (but especially Domino's). Sure, Domino's is a little better now, but their toppings don't measure up to PJ's and they lack the nice little touches like the garlic butter and pepperoncinis.

And just wait until you hear about the uber- Catholic Tom Monaghan who own Dominos. He also founded Ave Maria College, and has asked for a stay of the HHS contraception mandate for his employees.

Frankly, I'd bet you never would've cared about Schnatter, who is simply talking about a choice all employers are going to have to make as a result of new costs associated with Obamacare, had it not been for some liberal blog from which you probably also got the idea that Papa John's was for peope who live in "crack houses."

*Oh wait, you copied and pasted this from the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/06/opinion/sunday/new-rules-for-the-new-year.html?_r=0

Papa Johns & Dominos both SUCK.

It's like comparing Arbys & McDonalds.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Around here those are bothe horrible as well

Jan 9, 2013, 1:39 PM

Bad analogy.

Re: Thought folks would get that it's Bill Maher from the title

Jan 9, 2013, 2:00 PM [ in reply to Thought folks would get that it's Bill Maher from the title ]

and ironically enough, both arby's and McDonalds do more than their fair share in contributing to the health problems in this country.

I blame two things for the high cost of health care in this country. People loading themselves up on crappy food and suffering from obesity and diabeties.

#2, The healthcare model is set up to treat symptoms while ignoring the root cause of disease. Unfortunately we have a healthcare for profit system where the pharmaceutical lobby is allowed to exist.

my two cents and I am sure you guys are sick of it, whether you prefer a private sector or government solution to healthcare, we need better preventative care instead of treating symptoms with medications, and people need to cut out the Papa Johns and the McDoanlds and go to the gym more often. Diabetes is currently the leading contributor to death in this country by a huge margin.

The fact that there is a market for drugs like lippator, Ambien, Zoloft, and Cialis, goes a long way in telling us Hypertension and Anxiety are the two biggest killers, especially combined with a sedate, obese lifestyle.
