majors. It's almost obsolete but used to you'd role with the starter while he was hot until he was gassed.

He got to 3-2, 3-2, and 3-1 counts on the last 3 batters he faced. Granted that was against the heart of the order, but given that he was close to 100 pitches it could've also been a sign that he was running out of gas.

Problem is these kids have likely never pitched past 6 innings in a long long long time.

They do not pitch full games at the youth level (and even if they do it is 6 innings), you rarely if ever see a high school pitcher go full 7 innings (pitch count), at the collegiate level I cannot tell you the last time I saw a complete game, and at the major league level you know how that goes (starter might go 3 innings, then you got early relief/mid relief, closer)

I get it, everyone wants a full game. I just think the days of that are gone. They have been gone.
