I was born and raised right here is SC, and I've never lived in Missouri, but I am a show me type person. You can tell me that you can do all sorts of things, but until I know you can do it, it's just talk to me!!!

Two takeaways. First, the academic reputation of Clemson is important because baseball players care about education. Second, there is a fine line between a tournament team and one that is not.

Oh my gosh, little Temp has already stolen my heart. She is adorable. Holding her little Tiger. Little known fact is how integrated Michigan baseball and softball is/was out of necessity.
Glad to hear that integration will continue here. I can see (and hope) our wonderful ladies in softball will adopt Tempie as their unofficial mascot. Uprooting can be hard on kids. We will do right welcoming them to Tigertown.
I know many are cautiously optimistic but I'm over the moon with this hire and seeing how Neff has handled it, only solidified it even more. I love Monte and always will. He did a ton of good things... Especially acedemically. He ran a clean program and worked his tail off. Imo, he coached almost desperate and that permeates the dugout.
This just feels different. This has that "next step" vibe. I pray the Good Lord will keep me on this earth for first pitch next Feb. The excitement will be off the charts... Ever since I was Tempies age, I've dreamed of Clemson winning a baseball championship. Growing up we'd get so close. Good Lord willing Erik will fulfill our dreams. Go Tigers !!!!

I hope and believe he will do well here. But, the fact that it is his "dream" job is irrelevant.
I vividly remember Tommy West saying Clemson was HIS dream job, but it just turned out to be way too big for him.
Monte Lee pretty much said the same thing as far as Clemson being a "dream" job.
That is why I am glad we went with a "proven" Power 5 coach this time around. Having to recruit the caliber of players Clemson needs to return to prominence will not be a step up for Backich, he already knows what kind of player it will take. Now, we get to see if he can get them here. And, it will be interesting to watch him build his coaching staff.
I only hope he is smart enough to hold Leggett at arms length. Since Jack STILL thinks he should never have been fired, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that he would try to stage a coup if given too much entree into the program at this time.

Totally understand yours and others concerns. However, key point, Erik has been a D1 coach for 12 years. He's appreciative but imo he's comfortable in his skin and hasn't shied away from controversy a la Dabo. Again, imo, I feel he and Neff have shown they're not afraid to do it their way. Also feel Jack understand that too.
If Erik was still wet behind the ears coming from a mid major program, I could see your scenario taking root. Not here though. We'll see.

God bless you for the nerve for speaking not so positive about Jack. I've always thought that Jack was being handled a little harsh when Monte took over, and I'm that has changed, but I believe that Bakich better be very careful with how much input Jack has with the program.
Jack was let go for a reason, and that reason was that his way of the old just wasn't working for him anymore, and Jack had fair warning before he lost his seat at the table, and it was mainly bc after his warning by DRAD, he still refused to make the necessary changes that could've gave him a few more year to get it turned around. It was like he actually dared DRAD to fire him, and I think it was bc jack thought he had that much pull over DRAD with the higher ups.
So I think that whatever Bakich allows with Jack, it had better be very limited, or Jack may get a little to comfortable, and stab him in the back if his tenure don't take right off from the start!!!!

Jacks numbers speak for themselves. It was a staged “coup “ of idiots that put us down this road of losses in first place treating #7 the way they did!!! Speaking of #7 it should be on the outfield wall not on the back of a Clemson baseball player anymore.

What do the Michigan players say about his departure? That can tell us a lot.

I like him. Bakich has a great resume', a nice family, and a lot of enthusiasm. Let's get him what he needs to do the job.

I wasn’t blown away and impressed with the thought that he was the best option we could get. But after listening to him, I can see he does have focus. I hope ultimately Neff made a great hire and he ends up being the most legendary CU baseball coach. Time will tell as it always does.

Neff, and the amazing new coach and Leggett make it look like the Clemson family is "all good". Mean while the former player and coach that has held the program together twice, especially for the last two weeks is sent packing and they are trying to disparage him also.
