My leaf blower is a backpack one

Nov 10, 2021, 3:22 PM

that I got from my dad when he passed away. Its so loud and its so powerful that I did both my neighbors yards last night, but it took me about an hour or so. They are both elderly and I can knock it out in no time, plus I hope I can gain some good karma.

The neighbor behind me that sucks a fat ####### #### left me one of these.... in my mailbox. I know that it was them, so today, I fired it up again just to blow the 4-5 little leaves I missed.

It happens EVERY year.

Nov 10, 2021, 3:29 PM

There is one lady, hard to explain how she lives in relation to me, she wears one of these masks that are pseudo gas masks and hands out fliers about gas leaf blowers.

I remember when Chapel Hill implemented a rule that you couldn't use them until 10am and not on Sundays or something like that for their residents.

I should introduce you to Ann in our neighborhood

Nov 10, 2021, 3:36 PM [ in reply to It happens EVERY year. ]

She blows up the Facebook neighborhood group almost daily, Karening about something. Someone didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign. Some kid was smoking a cigarette in the bushes. There is a dog that barks loudly at night. Someone's dog crapped in her yard. The new pool furniture is an ugly color. The lights are too bright coming into the neighborhood. Some kid took three pieces of Halloween candy. It goes ON AND ON.

Well, Halloween night someone TP's her yard, and egged her house. She of course ran to Facebook to regale us with her latest Karening. Seems someone got fed up, lol. The responses were GOLD. Happy faces, high five memes, you name it. She hasn't posted since.

I'm all electric, except for lawn mower and weed eater

Nov 10, 2021, 3:30 PM

If I had a huge yard, or did it for a living I'd do all gas, but electric does most of what I need around the house. Hedge trimmer, leaf blower, CHAINSAW, all electric. Electric chainsaw is magical. 18" and it cuts like champ. Battery lasts almost long enough to cut a truckload of wood. I have two batteries interchangeable, so it's all good.

Nov 10, 2021, 3:54 PM

it's as old as can be, but every time I pull the cord it starts again. Dang it. Goes at about 200 decibels.

This will sound all fbcoach, but know what makes a decent chain saw when you dont got one? A Skilsaw. MissTulsa wanted a tree cut down, was a volunteer that got to maybe 9 feet tall and 5 inch diameter at the base, was shading her roses, she said. So I took the Skilsaw out there, cut a slot around it at the base, pushed it over. Skilsawed all the limbs off like they weren't even there. Felt weird, like 'something about this aint right', but worked great.

Nov 10, 2021, 3:35 PM

I think his wife beats him. And I am being serious about that too, not lungey, but serious. I think I have told stories on here of her getting wine drunk and I can hear her yelling at him. Its bad.

But yes, I should have done that to her.

I hate blowing leaves, but if one of my neighbors put that

Nov 10, 2021, 3:33 PM

#### in my mailbox I'd blow leaves every day while my tractor, truck, wife's car, and weedeater idled in the drive. If I got another one, I might start burning tires.

you got to remove them eventually so get them early
not all grass goes brown in the winter

He probably has some type of winter grass that will die if it doesn't get sunlight.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That seems like a good way to get fined by my HOA,

kill all the fescue that is under the leaves, breed mosquitoes once it's warm enough, and look like crap!

what? My grass is green about the whole winter

Nov 10, 2021, 4:53 PM [ in reply to I never really understood raking/blowing leaves ]

plus you want 8” snow piled up on leaves and then have that thaw, no way it’s drying and then another 4” of snow, thaw and not dry. Your yard would be a complete disaster.

I can tell you have never lived up North or if you have, you yard is a sloppy dirt track.

That down south st Augustine/Bermuda ain’t cutting it up

Nov 10, 2021, 8:24 PM [ in reply to I never really understood raking/blowing leaves ]

North. Tall fescue here in MD, grass will stay green. If the leaves stay on it you’ll get a mold/fungus and kill everything.

If the coverage isn’t too bad I’ll mow the leaves with the grass for some mulch/nutrients. But can’t have whole lawn coverage. I prefer my yard to look like someone cares about living here.
