I saw an old man driving a Jeep yesterday that had

May 11, 2022, 9:33 AM

the words "Well, did you die?" written on the top of the windshield in white letters about 3" tall.

WTH does that even mean? Why would someone put that on their window?

Old men are weird.

There's some sort of craze around here where people who driv

May 11, 2022, 9:35 AM

Wranglers line their dash with all these rubber ducks. I've seen at least 4 different ones with this. WTphyuck?

The ducks are some kinda jeep thing

May 11, 2022, 9:36 AM

I don't know what it means.

I guess I'm glad my gladiator isn't really a Jeep in that sense.

The Jeep wave? They have a wave?

May 11, 2022, 9:52 AM

I'm not sure if that's gheyer than being ducked or not. This makes me embarrassed to say I used to drive a 95 Jeep Cherokee in high school.

It gets kinda annoying after a while***

I've gotten a few on mine in parking lots for a couple years

May 11, 2022, 9:55 AM [ in reply to So they just drive around with a stash of tiny rubber ducks ]

at first I was baffled, I thought some kid had left his toy on my door handle. Finally had to look it up. Apparently it was some COVID thang somebody dreamed up to show "kindness" or "brotherhood" or something.

It's pretty much stopped now, has for me anyways. Maybe that's a sign that I need to wash mine.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I recently learned about rubber ducking.

May 11, 2022, 10:36 AM [ in reply to There's some sort of craze around here where people who driv ]

Which isn't what you're talking about, but is kind of interesting.

When my wife is brainstorming* we refer to it as "rubber ducking" so I understand she's just thinking aloud and I don't need to take her ideas very seriously.

The blues festival in Fountain Inn we went to a few weeks

May 11, 2022, 9:42 AM

back had a Jeep show, looked like maybe 50 or 60 of them entered. I'm always been amazed at how many aftermarket dollars people are willing to throw into a Jeep and make it where taking it offroad as it was intended would be a real detriment to what they've spent making it look the way it does. I think if I was into the 'show Jeep' thing, I'd have to have a second one that was raggedy enough to use as intended.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Its pretty amazing how much folks spend on them

May 11, 2022, 9:47 AM

I saw a youtube video the other day where some guy had a custom made camper/sleeper made for his Jeep Gladiator that was $25K..and that was along with the $25K in suspension and other mods he had to the jeep. He had over $100K in a Jeep gladiator with a built in camper...and no bathroom.

I was thinking the whole time...why not just buy a pull behind off road camper?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

May 11, 2022, 9:57 AM [ in reply to The blues festival in Fountain Inn we went to a few weeks ]

Including a welder, large compressor, many tools for rust repair, grinding, sanding, painting, cutting and buffing and tools for those jobs and finished work along with rebuild kits for mechanical components, a soldering station for electrical restorations, leather softener and dye...I've got nearly $6K in my project car.

Another $1500-2500 in paint and I'm finished, maybe. I'm going to have aprox $2500 left over in equipment, tools and materials. I'm looking for a 1966 Chevy II. I've found a 283 engine worth rebuilding. I'd take anything from 1962-1967 Nova.

of these Jeeps at the festival were pretty new and then had thousands of dollars dumped into them. They were all pretty much set up to cruise the strip at Myrtle Beach and be seen instead of using it for what it was built for. To be clear, I'm not criticizing that either...I'm just saying that's not why I would buy a Jeep.

biggest accident you ever saw. But I built it to be able to. No, I don't get it either. But there it is. After a certain amount of dollars and work you get protective, I guess.
