That’s awesome news. I remember conversations several years ago about when he retired from playing football how cool it would be to have him on the staff.

So glad that CJ is joining this staff! His blood is solid orange and he will shine as an outstanding example of "All In" for the young men in the program.

Wishes because he felt called to play for Dabo.

Great news. You couldn’t have a better role model around our guys.

than Mr. Spiller

I think a lot of us had a feeling this would happen.

Nobody loves Clemson more than CJ. We are where we are today in large part thanks to his decision to come to Clemson.

Clemson fans, in their infinite wisdom, would have never let

Aug 18, 2020, 7:31 PM

Dabo out of his 2nd year without CJ Spiller.

Take CJ away from 2009, and that's a losing record instead of an ACCCG. CJ carried that Team and that Staff on his shoulders, even terribly injured as he was.

Add on the losing record already from 2010, and Dabo would have been history, no questions asked.

We're so smart.

If it hadn't been for Dabo's persistence with CJ during his recruitment, CJ would have never been a Tiger. IMO, with CJ's family and the coaching staff of the Florida schools pulling so hard at CJ for a commitment, Dabo worked a miracle in getting CJ to sign with Clemson!!!

So anything that CJ done at Clemson, give Dabo some credit for CJ being at Clemson and doing what he done bc, no other coach at Clemson, at that time could have signed CJ. That was all Dabo, and CJ don't mind saying that Dabo was his reason for coming to Clemson!!!!!!

So stop trying put imaginary losses on Dabo's record bc, you can't take CJ away, Dabo had him, and was personally responsible for CJ helping Clemson to win game. If a Bullfrog had wings, they wouldn't bounce on their A$$ every time they hop!!! And you're not so smart at all!!!

Agreed. When I read the article title I had to stop and recall he wasn’t yet on the staff. I know he has volunteered over the years, but super glad to get him back. I see that has a start to much more down the road for him and Clemson!

IMO, I believe our coaching got even better with CJ Spiller as a GA. I hope that when his GA time is over, that Dabo will find a permanent place on the coaching staff for him!!!

I do, the #28 has been on the front fender of my scooter ever since I had the Clemson colors, custom paint job done, and that was right after CJ's junior season as a Clemson Tiger, and #28 still rides on that fender today!!!!

Still stuck in my craw

Aug 18, 2020, 7:26 PM

Sitting in the stands on an unusually cold and windy Tampa night watching CJ eviscerate the GT defense only to be let down by our inept defensive gameplan led by none other than Mr. 70-33 himself , Kevin Steele .
We should have won that game , helll....CJ almost did by himself .

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

DB23

Yup. Would have been a good time to get rid of Steele.***

Absolutely Tigerdug!!! I really never cared much for Foil man as our DC, and the reason for that was bc when things went wrong with the D in games, Foil always put the blame on the players, and it was never bc of anything that he done wrong, or should have done differently, it was always bc our player didn't play with their eyes. If that was actually the truth, it was still his job to make the corrections, and he never done that. The hire that Dabo made with BV, it made that WV embarrassment well worth that beat down IMO bc, we have had a top 10 D ever since BV chose to bring his defensive coaching skills to Clemson!!!

So many favorite CJ moments but I will always remember watching the O lineman raise their arms for the touchdown signal when CJ broke free. Nobody was catching CJ from behind.

There was that time, and I don't remember the game but, Jacoby Ford ran CJ down and blocked for him to the endzone!!!

Lol at CJ teaching RB techniques...

Aug 19, 2020, 11:00 AM

"Okay, so just fly by that guy."

"Yeah, but CJ, he has the angle on me."

"Sure...just blast right by him like he's standing still. Easy. And then when this guy is right in front of you, just juke right around him. And then score a touchdown."

:)

Teasing of course. I know he has tons of insight to offer these guys. But some things CJ did cannot be taught...heck, I'm not sure they could be duplicated in a computer simulation.

I remember hearing CJ say that something that impressed him on his visit was that it happened during a school break, maybe Fall break, and James Davis gave up his break and stayed behind to host him. I wish James would come back to finish his degree!
