but honestly, I have lost some respect for him this year. The constant coach speak that anyone that knows football sees right through, chewing players out on the sidelines but refuses to do the same to our QB who is just awful, calling out the defense in almost every postgame press conference while they are the only reason we aren’t 1-5 right now, refusal to admit that the playcalling, scheme, and OC are costing us big time, etc.
He needs to step back and make an honest assessment of the team, himself, and the rest of the staff. I don’t expect him to publicly call out any of them, but something has to change. We have too much talent to be seeing the product we are on the offensive side of the ball.
Thank God for Venables. Without him this season would look even worse.

I agree with you that he is not chewing on his quarterback, DJ, but I’m sure he’s probably worried about DJs sensitivity and afraid if he chews on him he’ll move into the portal

I believe coach V will be in the portal this off season. $3M contract to go back to OK, where he coach D, without carrying the rest of the staff.

You don’t want him to call them out publicly but you’ve lost respect because of the coach speak? And all the “step back” and “honest assessment” stuff is absolutely unknowable to anyone but Dabo - so why no just assume the best and enjoy your Saturday.

Anyone who knows football sees right through it. It’s ridiculous. I assumed the best, and gave him the benefit of the doubt after games 1 and 2 when he told us they were getting better but six games in when you know that haven’t it’s just empty BS.

morans here do? They don't understand the personnel issues? The missed plays? The staff is simply realistic enough to understand there is no magic bullet and to try to work to improve what they have this year. T-Net wants a magic bullet

There is NOTHING Dabo can do THIS YEAR to fix the issues (created by him) on this years team.
Good news is it's not too late to adapt, adjust, & put his pride aside and go with the flow of the current state of college football. If he takes an honest look and TOUGH evaluation of why this team is where it's at when this season is over he can easily prevent this program's "fall from grace".
-Better roster management
-Oline Fixes
-Offensive innovation/scheme overhaul
-Coach nepotism
-PLAYER nepotism
-Give BV a 1-2million dollar raise.......we CAN'T afford to lose him
-Truthful and tough coach conversations
all of the above can be "fixed" for next year and nothing can be done about it this year. This team's problems are much deeper than "DJ's off", our WRs can't catch, etc...........anybody with a clue saw "cracks in the foundation" in the 2019 LSU game and they've continued.......now they're exposed.
Dabo can't EASILY right the ship in the off season, I just don't know if he'll have it in him to make the "tough calls" on the coaches and/or the players.

I am sure he will lose sleep at night for losing your respect.
Clearly he is disappointed in his offense. So, you would feel better if he says we stink, DJ is not good, the receivers can’t catch, the o line is disappointing, and tony has forgotten how to call plays. (You know, the cool plays that don’t require execution and go for 80 yard touchdowns every time). Lol
Posts like this from an armchair are not helpful, nor carry insight. Chemistry is a tough thing, especially with 1 position group struggling, then when 2 or 3 do, it becomes a circle of issues.
Posters complaining about the roster, yet, were super excited getting the number 1 class a couple of years ago. People posting how great everyone was. Well maybe they will get there, but right now they are not.
A down year or two was bound to happen. The coaching staff will continue to work on the issues. At the end of the day, it is about execution.

I personally think it’s healthy to criticize and be a little unhappy with the current product, while still appreciating the recent success. Losing and poor play should bring criticism, so I think it comes with the territory!! While I think most still appreciate the overall efforts, this product is not ok!! Mix it up some and try other things outside the box and I, for one, would applaud those efforts (successful or not)…. Keep pushing the limits!!!

It isn't DJ's fault, it isn't our OL's fault, etc. You guys are used to having an NFL draft #1 pick QB and thinking that's just how it is supposed to look. DJ is a good QB, our scheme is just terrible.

understand that you manage to the personality and strengths of the individual. Everyone accepts criticism and reinforcement differently and you have to communicate to their individual qualities to be effective.
