I lost my 2nd VW mechanic

first one was a younger guy, maybe 50s, had his shop in Homer, GA
I got a call from Merck's VW today in Central, lady told me my push button start was done on my bus, she then asked me if Daddy told me how much it was going to be, I thought she was talking to somebody else but I finally realized she was talking to me and I said no. She asked somebody near her and she told me $65 and it had to be cash since Daddy passed away on 12/31 and they were closing the business. S H I T
Houston Merck was his name. Cannot find an obit but I believe he was in his late 80s. Anyway, super nice guy, did cheap and good work

cruise in or two. A VW bus with a Subaru boxer engine swap for the uninitiated. Doggone thing was quick and easily the first VW Bus I've seen smoke the tires.

a lot full of VWs on Hwy 8 going toward Pickens. Just past the Hot Spot there is a curve to the right and that VWs are on the right about that area.
I got my hands full with another German car and have no real idea who is reputable auto mechanic these days. I haven't trusted anyone else to do anything for years.
