Downtown Winston Salem

Anyone have any experience in downtown WS? Already have dinner plans Friday night but just looking for a couple places to check out for a pre/post dinner cocktail.

Downtown WS is a pretty good place to go. 4th street and trade street and innovation quarter are areas to Check out.

-The Katharine Brasserie and Bar (4th St. Was the Reynolds Headquarters, Beautiful Art Deco Building that was the miniature version of the Empire St Building. Same architect)

-Ginger Fox (4th St)
-Tates (4th St)

The following are a little out of downtown but these are legit, nice cocktail places:
Joyners
Eastern Standard
Vintage Sofa Lounge

Definitely check out the area around Bailey Park. Especially the “Coal Pit” where Incendiary Brewery is. If you’re staying another night there is a free outdoor concert in the Coal Pit. A couple of popular local country artists. Should be a good crowd for that.

How do you like Winston Salem? Is it growing? Some people have said that it is run down. What do you think overall.and about the future lf the area?

Don’t judge Winston by the area around the football stadium. Downtown is very cool. I’ve lived in Greenville and Asheville and like it better than both. It’s a small town with big city stuff to do. No traffic!
