Finally finished first season of Winning Time on HBO

Thoughts?

I haven't taken the time to really see how accurate the story is (other than the season outcome), but I do like the style in which its filmed (breaking the 4th wall, camera quality like that of 1980, putting labels on funny ####). Love how Magic and Larry Byrd and the rivalry are portrayed. I haven't always been the biggest John C. Reilly fan but love him in this role as Jerry Buss.

I was a little too young to remember those Lakers first years, so it's cool to see (even if a bit fictionalized) how that culture got started.

Can't decide if the girl who plays Jeannie Buss is kinda hot or not...

of the whole thing. As a Celtic fan, I hated the Lakers but couldn't get past how stupid they made everything seem.

And poor Jerry West, a guy I had always respected seems like a psycho nut in this.

I think they take a lot of license with it to gin up some drama, but they throw disclaimers all over the place.

I remember the Laker-Celtic games of the 80's were just epic, and if I recall they alternated championships every year for about a decade.

We're enjoying it, knowing that everything isn't accurate, and agree, Reilly is the absolute show stealer. Worth the time for his performances alone, though the Majic and Kareem actors are awfully good at what they do too.
