Should they stay, or should they go now...

Dec 16, 2015, 7:18 AM

I haven't actually checked any numbers to back this up, but speculating, I would think that one of the reasons people don't last long in the NFL is because they come out of college too early.

If you are drafted and don't produce early, you will be let go so they can experiment with the new prospects coming out.

It's a win/win to stay in...
-The extra year will raise your draft stock so your first contract will be substantially larger.
-Your first year you will be more ready/able to make a dramatic impact to your drafted team and will help you prolong your career.

The flip side...
-An injury could happen at any time, so a guaranteed draft (in any round) would be very tempting.
-The extra year could make you a top 10 pick and guarantee you placed on a REALLY bad team! Leaving early would cost you some money initially, but you have a greater chance of making a great team and having "nasty" numbers. (See Bryant)

Congrats to all those Tigers who will be making a tough decision that most could only dream of having. Either way, you will make the right decision, because the decision is YOURS!

Stay or go, you will always be a Tiger and we will ALWAYS have your back!

I just always hope kids make the right decision for themselves. Usually I am a fan of staying but then I also think about Anthony Waters so you never know

Always go if you are projected to be a 1st rounder.**

Can't fault a kid for doing what is best for him and his family financially. It's easy for me to say come back and graduate, but if you're looking at millions of dollars, go get it. You can always come back and get that degree when you're done.

It's not always a win/win .. ask Tajh Boyd. Each case is

Dec 16, 2015, 8:26 AM

different in my opinion. Had TB gone pro after the LSU win he would have gone at least early second round if not late first. Means guaranteed contract. With that contract he would have been given a much wider range of development and be on a roster right now.

The NFL does not have guaranteed contracts and I

Imagine the same issues the popped up with Tajh would have been there before.

I agree it's a tough call and depends on each individual's situation. I, like others, thought M Bryant was nuts, so what do I know

Was a little surprised to see Dodd's name, but he's had a very solid year. My lean would say he should stay because he could put up Shaq #'s next year with that D-Line clogging up the middle

Gallman and Leggett are different. Leggett may be looking at MW and the WR's back next year and wonder how many looks he'll get. Gallman has to consider the same thing and Choice/Feaster reps. Plus, the prospect of coming out with Dalvin Cook and FOurnette, etc.

I think winning a national championship could sway some decisions. Fortunately, the cubbard is so full, it'll just be next man up

I like the way you think...

Dec 16, 2015, 11:54 AM [ in reply to Re: Should they stay, or should they go now... ]

I wanted Bryant to stay so he could be able to shine without being the guy opposite of Sammy. (Similar to what I said in another post about Tank)

But by coming out too soon, he landed an awesome QB at Pittsburg. Maybe his stats are more important than his contract at this point in time.

Imagine what Sammie/Nuk could do with Ben, Brady, or Manning throwing to them!

Good point on Gallman. Running backs have a hard enough time in the draft... having those in the mix could hurt him if they all stay healthy next year.
