I like the article about our rally falling short

Of course rally isnt the word I'd use for FSU almost choking

The support for Brownell is shocking....

Mar 11, 2015, 4:17 PM

We ran Bowden out of town at the right time and it paid off. If anyone thinks this program is trending anywhere but down, they are nuts. Missing the NIT is deplorable.

Unless Brownell can recruit some four star players, this is what Clemson will always be, a middle of the pack ACC basketball team.
Brownell's teams remind me of the Bobby Knight IU teams without his talented players. We have got to put the ball in the hole on a consistent basis.

Grantham is a 4-star guy

Hudson, Devoe, and Blossomgame are all top 150 players. The transfer from SF averaged close to 13 points per game as a starter for SF last year, and he shot like 43% from three. All is not lost.

Or they're actually paying attention to the program

The team trended down at the end of this year, but I don't see how you can look at them minus KJ McDaniels and say they were a complete disappointment. There are also a lot of reasons to be optimistic about next year. And the team probably should've been in the NCAAs last year.

If you want to compare Brownell with the last bball coach we fired, here are Shyatt's records:

20-15 (5-11)
10-20 (4-12)
12-19 (2-14)
13-17 (4-12)
15-13 (5-11)

That's 70-84 and 20-60 over 5 years.

Here's Brownell:

22-12 (9-7)
16-15 (8-8)
13-18 (5-13)
23-13 (10-8)
16-14 (8-10)

That's 90-72 and 40-46. So Brownell has won 20 more games total than Shyatt did and 20 more ACC games. No, we're not winning as much as we did at the end of Purnell's tenure, but when a coach leaves of his own accord, some of that's to be expected. But let's not pretend like we're scraping the bottom of the barrel.

You're right...Shyatt should be the barometer.
