I like our chances. And I'll tell you why:

Our power rangers. Most came back due to "unfinished business." A lot of motivation right there. But then one of their brethren was taken from them. And there is only one direction they can focus their vengeance.
Justyn Ross. He chose Clemson. He wants to show everyone he made the right choice. He wants everyone to understand why he left the state of Alabama to commit to Clemson.
Trevor Lawrence. He'll just be Trevor Lawrence. Like DeShaun, there is no stage too big for him. He will exploit the talent he has around him.
There are other reasons: Venables, ETN, the OL who rightfully have a chip on their shoulder. The culture Dabo has created. These Clemson Tigers are staring the National Championship right in the face. And they will not let it slip away.

But can we not say one of their brothers was “taken from them?” He didn’t get murdered, he failed a drug test and will be on the sideline a cheering them on. I do think it might add a little more motivation but hopefully there’s no need for that.

I stand by my original statement that one brother was taken from them. Was he not? Yes he was. Not necessarily intentionally. But he won't be by their side. And they will have, and rightfully so, rightous indignation.

If you fail a drug test, knowingly or unknowingly, you’re not “taken” like you were a gunshot victim. I feel bad for the kid as I believe he’s telling the truth. But all of this is beside the main point which is that our players shouldn’t be having to dig deep to find extra motivation to play in this game. It’s not an early September tilt against Furman, it’s likely the biggest game of their lives.
