exclusive. We currently stand at 57 offers for '24 right now. If you click on the different schools it is amazing how many some of them offer. Duke at 319, Ga Tech at 422, FSU at 306, Alabama at 226 and Miami at 352. The numbers are ridiculous.

Are their numbers ridiculous in this NIL/Transfer Portal era of talent acquisition at the P5 collegiate level?

That’s ridiculous because nobody can feel you want just them.

They think you’ll take the best one that’ll go hoe with you.

I mean home… Not Alll….but most!

Yeah, but an elite 5 Star thinks they're the best at their position. You don't have to make them think they're the only one you want. It's why UGA signs multiple 5 Star running backs most years and Ohio State does the same with receivers.

Yes it's absolutely ridiculous under any circumstances.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

some other schools. EVERY offer that Dabo extends is a "commitable" offer. In some cases, at least in the past, offers have been pulled by other schools to "make a spot" for a better athlete if one decided late they wanted to come to that school, or the potential commit is told they have to wait and see if there is a spot for them. To me, that is the dirtiest kind of dirty pool.

I agree. And it is like some have offered 7 to 8 times as many as we have

It's all dirty pool.... its just that some games are dirtier than others.

A committable offer even at clemson isn't automatically good forever. It can be withdrawn. The offer is good until Clemson gets the maximum number of commits that they are willing to take for that position. If/when that happens the kids with offers that haven't committed will be told that there is no more room unless there is a de-commit later on. Totally above board.

Clemson has a rock solid reputation that once a kid is offered, Clemson is 100% prepared to accept a commitment right then and there. That's the difference between clemson and many others.

The vast majority will not accept an early commitment and buy time to keep fishing for a bigger fish by continuing to keep the kid and family buttered up with IMs, Texts, mail etc.... once they get their bigger fish, the attention dries up UNTIL their big fish starts slipping off the hook at which time the attention machine will crank back up. At some point they will accept the commitment and you'll see the kid announce it on twitter.

Many (most?) programs will take a late commit from a better player and pull the offer of the kid who is committed already. Those with some vestiges of morals and integrity have a self-imposed NLT date so that the kid who they are pitching overboard has time to try and find another home. Maybe it's because they give a hoot about the kid... most likely is that the closer to signing day they do it the worse the look for the program.

Those without any integrity, will continue to lead on a committed kid and will leave him high and dry at the last minute if they get a 5* dropping in their laps.

Clemson will accept a commitment right then and there when making the offer. That is the difference. The other difference is the Clemson will honor the handshake deal come hell or high water assuming the kid upholds his end by taking himself off of the market (not visiting other schools etc.) 100% guaranteed that there will a real, written scholarship offer for the kid to sign come early signing day. No if's ands or buts. Clemson will not leave that kid standing at the altar.

I didn't know how Clemson handled this so thank you for your post. And if Clemson maintains that position, I don't care if we get another 5-star. We know our offers are given with integrity. And somewhere on this planet, integrity still matters.

Look at the list of “de-commits” on 24/7 by school. Georgia has had 48 in Kirby’s era. He lets them commit until someone better comes along. If any of y’all wants your school to do this to match his talent level, I suggest you find another school. The state of Ga was so desperate to win (especially after we won 2), no one cares about integrity there. If they did, the HS schools would say something.

No one will name names of NIL violators. Mack Brown has talked about violations twice but has not named anyone. Recruited players, their families, and their coaches are all radio silent.

Yeah that sleaziness of pulling offers should be a punishable violation. Unless they can prove that the student athlete violated some ethical violation, then they should be held accountable for accepting their commitment to them. It is different if an athlete tries to commit, and their spot has been filled.

Allowing kids to sign at any time would cause new issues and different shenanigans from both programs and kids, but it would at least make the level of commitment from the program standpoint more obvious.

A kid could (and will) immediately ask for the paperwork to sign with a 24hr turnaround for countersignature expected. Programs would undoubtedly put time limits on the offer but it would make the conversations real in a hurry.

"hey kid, i know that you are only in 9th grade, but we want to offer you a full ride at red and black dog mascot university"

"great coach, send me over the paperwork. you're my dream school. i know i'm not a 5*, but i really have a thing for short fat dogs, just like everyone in my family. i'm so excited because i already have my bedroom decorated"

"um, woof!".

Which is not a bad approach for the Dukes and Vanderbilts of the world. They know they will likely not get those 4 & 5 stars usually. But if they get a few it will build
