Check out the two teams right above us in the rankings. Why even have other metrics if the only one that matters is quad 4 losses?

The most important metric is #1 and all they tell you about it is that it’s an “algorithm set up to reward teams that beat other good teams”. Super thanks for clearing that up.

Yes a close L to a good team is better then a close W to a bad team. I believe that's how the metrics work. I don't like it but hey just win baby.

Why shouldn’t it? Every team has equal opportunity to improve over a season. And a player missing to due to injury or any other reason is as impactful in Game 30 as Game 1. Plus, having automatic qualifiers tied to conference tournament champions already disproportionately benefits late peaking teams.

This isn’t rocket science and we’re not get hosed by an algorithm. We’re playing the worst schedule we’ve played since the 1960s. Arguably the worst schedule we’ve played in the history of the program. And we lost two games to two of the worst teams on that schedule. That is why we’re not being treated kindly.

How about Ohio State at 11-10 with 1 quad-four loss at #29?
Quad 1 2 3 4
2-8 3-1 0-0 6-1
Or Utah State sitting at #33 at 16-5? The 2 quad four losses don't seem to hurt them nearly the same as out two quad-four losses.

I believe it's because a close quad 1 L is better then a close quad 3 W. Not positive but that seems to be the case.

Ok, but we have 3 quad 1 wins and 2 losses. Utah State has zero quad 1 wins, 3 losses plus 2 quad-four losses. I don't get it.

We have a lot of close quad 2 3 and 4 wins tho. If another team has won by larger margins against those kinds of teams they could be ahead. If they have lost close games to quad 1 teams they could be ahead.

Kentucky is #35 in NET.
14-7 overall
1-6 vs quad 1
3-0 vs quad 2
4-0 vs quad 3
6-1 vs quad 4
It seems that quad 1 losses matter a lot, even without many quad 1 wins.

ESPN's computerized BPI has just come out too and we're #53 there.
But Utah State is #61. Ohio State is still somehow #18. 11-10, #18?
Va Tech is at 44 (13-8), I guess we provided them with 2 quality losses.
Maybe we need to get some more quality losses?

Those quad 4 losses bring teams down too much.
Conversely, quad 1 losses seem to help improve the NET, even in the absence of quad 1 wins.
It is clear to anyone paying attention that we have improved as the year has gone on. The committee will see that. Quad 4 losses before Christmas will be viewed a lot differently than two quad 4 losses after the new year.
Plus, opponents change. The FSU team we beat yesterday is a much better team than the one who played early in the year. They have players back they didn’t have then. They are much better than a quad 3 team, but the NET ranking doesn’t take that into consideration.
We just need to keep winning. If we do, the NET isn’t going to hurt us because a committee of people with eyeballs will see that we are one of the top 25 teams in college basketball.
