Running Backs Were not good at all…

Sep 4, 2021, 11:58 PM

Some of those sacks are on them. One play for example, Shipley jumps up into the center of the line when the line had that spot blocked and the backer came from the right. Ship should have had him. Oline was terrible but I wonder how much was on the backs tonight as well.

Overall one of the worst offensive performances since the Tommy West era.

Tommy West eta seems about right.

Why was Dixon in third spot of depth chart?

I keep wondering the same thing

Per ESPN- L Dixon 1 carry for 10 yards. I don’t follow the new stories year round, But figured when I saw pace and shipply start it was a recruiting thing. Then I saw steady amount of Pace. Who I don’t even remember playing last year. Shipply also played a good bit but he does not appear to be faster than Dixon and certainly does not know the position. So I am just confused here why those 2 appeared to have most of the carries. We had 23 rushing attempts last night, 1 for Dixon, who I thought would be our starter.

But what I did see last night was that when Dixon was in the game, we (Clemson) looked more settled. And that seems to fall in line with what coaches were saying about DJ in the post game interviews.

Our Oline did not play well, but I think starting 2 fairly inexperienced players at running back also did not help.

So all of this said, Was Dixon hurt or in the doghouse? No news on that. Also, I was frustrated that we did not give him a carry on that goal line stand where we passed 3 straight. I feel like he helped get us down there on that drive, and would figure he should get 1 carry.

Anyway, really liked what I saw on defense. Offense, we have issues. We need a lot more reps because if the coaches are going with pace and shipply/ at this point in there very young carriers they are not ready.

Go Tiger.
