I KEEP FORGETTING HOW HARD YOU ALL WORKED THIS OFFSEASON

Sep 11, 2016, 3:56 AM

It keeps slipping my mind that yall were spebeing all of those days in the weight room, in the indoor facility, in the west end zone for 11 hours a day. How dare this team not play better! How dare they forget what they owe this Clemson fan base!

How dare them not to live up to the expectations that you have set for them, how dare they don't do enough for you to talk trash to your coot friends.

Seriously blows my mind. How quick you all forget how far we have come. This fan base has gotten spoiled. I don't know where the entitlement comes of thinking that we are suppose to be this huge powerhouse who constantly kills everyone. Absolutely it was Troy, and the talent is significantly better. But those kids don't just show up on the first day of school and start practicing football and say "let's go get smashed by a bunch of D1 schools". They practice all summer, and every one of those kids has the same dream as every other college football player, the NFL.

It's pathetic. The crazy thing is, I think some of you think you could do a better job! Clemson recruits well and we have amazing coaches.

If you think every Saturday those 18-22 year old kids are going to go out there and be at the top of their game every single week, and not lose some plays and some matchups, then you people know less about sports than I originally thought.

At least just understand the process, and know that football to these kids is a full time job, where as to you it's getting drunk and showing up to coach from the stands.

Re: I KEEP FORGETTING HOW HARD YOU ALL WORKED THIS OFFSEASON

Sep 11, 2016, 4:57 AM

First off you need to do some homework.
It's not our expectations, all though last year's run did spoil some fans thinking we are the # 2 team in the land.Heck, even most of the college football magazines talk about Clemson's "unfinished business".What are we supposed to expect?
No,the expectations come from these so called football experts who put us at # 2 even though we clearly are not the # 2 team in the country after week 2.And unfortunately,in today's football world it's not how far you have come, but how far can you go.
You are correct that we are not this huge power house, but a cousin who is a life long supporter and I talked yesterday about the one thing that Clemson lacks. It's called a "Killer Instinct".They just can't seem to put people away early enough so that you( and us fans) don't have to worry about a 'Hail Mary" pass,or an own side kick giving the opponent a chance to come back and get a last second win.And that could have happened in both of our 2 games this year.I don't care how good you are,or think you are,but an 0-2 start does nothing but give you faint hope for the Meinkie Car Crap Bowl,or the Papa John Toilet Bowl.
(And this "Killer Instinct" is something that has been lacking for some time according to him,and other people I know who follow Clemson have discussed in the past.So this is not new).
Now,in regards to you thinking that some of us could do a better job"coaching"it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that after 2 games this team is lethargic, and not operating on all cylinders.Maybe the team, and even some of the coaching are buying into all of this hype.If so whose fault is that? Certainly not the fan base.
The thing is they need to get their act together.Sure they came out of the gates 2-0,and some of the other top 25 teams have had slip up's but Clemson can't afford a slip up.
Oh,and just so we know that we are all on the same page here, all of the teams in the College Football Playoff system work hard, and practice all summer,or they wouldn't be here.
The difference is only one team can rule the roost, and right now it's Alabama.
And as Dabo said to be the best, you got to be the best.
And you don't do that by playing uninspiring, and at times dumb football against two teams you were favored to best by double digit.

Re: I KEEP FORGETTING HOW HARD YOU ALL WORKED THIS OFFSEASON

Sep 11, 2016, 7:54 AM

Uhhh, seriously? The whole college football world spent the off season talking about how we have the best QB and receivers in the country. Then, these very guys wind up playing pretty badly against a less than top 20 opponent and you don't expect our intensely interested and invested fan base to discuss it or be concerned? What planet are you from?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I KEEP FORGETTING HOW HARD YOU ALL WORKED THIS OFFSEASON

Sep 11, 2016, 8:06 AM

Hahaha discuss it? You mean ##### about it.

My only thing is, if you can't offer a solution to the problem, and me and you both know realistically you cant, then why go on and on about it?

Another thing, these same preseason writers who are slammed every year for hating on Clemson and not giving Clemson respect, all of a sudden you pay them attention? They are constantly called stupid by Clemson fans, saying there is a Clemson bias. But the one time they say "Clemson is the most talented and best offense", now you give them credit and say they are right?

Wake up

For 1.

For 2. Check this what Nick saban said after yesterday's win
“I don’t know I’ve ever been this disappointed after winning a game, maybe ever,” he told reporters after the game.

Well, that showed on the field.

In the closing minute of the game, Saban was caught yelling at offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, whose offense fumbled away the ball late and allowed Western Kentucky to score.

All I know is Clemson is 2-0. It might not be how you wanted it to look, but I guarantee you the ones who are actually involved with the program are happy about that. Every goal that these young men and coaches work their ### off for is still attainable.

I don't have to make excuses, or justify the way the team played. And they don't have to either. If you are dissapointed and you think it should be better, go back to school. Get an education degree. Find you a coaching job. Until you have put in the work and time to make any kind of difference, who are you to criticize them? Just sit on your couch or in the stands and watch.

And if you are so in love with Bama and how they are the best, pull for Bama. If that's your standard for how you think it should be, go pull for them

I've been in his office; he has a file cabinet specifically dedicated to TigerNet coaching resumes.
Decision will be tough because of so many high-quality candidates, but he figures, how can he possibly make a poor choice? It's a scenario he looks forward to.

Not mad we won. glad we won. Frustrated in how we won though.

Just like Nick saban was pissed they gave up a late score because of dumb offensive play calling .

When play calling (and coaching) is good, we call it good. When it is bad, we call it bad.

When players make a spectacular play, we call it good. When they miss a tackle and underperform, we call it bad

So many of you scared to call a spade a spade.

argument.

There is so much ignorance in your post! Fans can be critical.

Yes, I actually do support this team through hard work. Do you know how many tens of thousands of dollars that I have given Clemson through the years? A lot. Multiply that by the hundreds of thousands of people that are just like me, you know the fans you are talking about now, and see what you have as a program.

Fans, both the critical ones and non critical ones, come with the game. If you have a problem with that, you should do something about that. If you hear me in person, try and shut me up, if you do not like seeing it here, I suggest you stay away from this website. If a coach or player does not like it, then they are in the wrong business, I suggest they play intramural.

You become a member of this board less than a year ago, you do not donate to this board, and probably do not donate to Clemson. I suggest we need less fans like you, and more of the critical fans that actually do give back to the university and team.

Congratulations on sending in your money. I'm sure if you hadn't have donated those ten's of thousands, the whole football program would have shut down and they would have blamed it on you not sending in your money.

All I'm saying is its pointless. You look like a ####### in the stands trying to coach and make corrections. If you want to help, do what the other coaches have done and go to school to be a teacher and coach, work your way up to the top, then we can sit around and talk about how bad you suck.

If it helps you sleep at night, keep being critical. Keep thinking you are a major part of the success of this program. I promise you no one will notice if you stop sending your money.

Dabo gave a million last week, so that should make up for the loss of money from you and the other cry babies like you who should have went in to coaching many years ago

Talk about games in the future. Talk about match ups coming up.

You think the play calling sucked. How do you know Troy's defensive call wasn't just that good? Or maybe somebody didn't do their assignment for that particular play? You have no idea. You seen that the play didn't work, so you immediately say the play calling sucked, without having any knowledge of what the play call is or what everybody's job on the play is

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: NFLU is obviously part of the generation that received

Sep 11, 2016, 10:06 AM

Have you ever played a down of football? I played from the time I was 5 until I was 20, that means I played 2 years of football after high school even. Guess what, I think I know what I am talking about. It does not take a genius to watch the LOS and see that there is no push. It does not take a coach to see that a QB is not going through reads. It does not take a coach to realize that formations, and plays from those formations are predictable.

Maybe YOU need school, or special training to figure that out as you said in a previous post, but I have 15 years of actually playing the game to know that.

Re: I KEEP FORGETTING HOW HARD YOU ALL WORKED THIS OFFSEASON

By your rational Bama should score on every possession on offense and force a 3 and out on every defensive possession. For more than a decade now they have had the best players by a 4 year average of any of the recruiting service rankings. They have the best coaches. And they constantly flaunt NCAA rules by hiring more coaches than the limit but titling them as advisors and consultants. So the fact that they ever take one step backwards on defense or ever fail to score on offense pretty much undermines your idea of whatnit means to play toa standard. I must have imagined a middling Ole Miss team beating them the last two years too.
