I just read a very disappointing statsistic. In 1977,

Sep 30, 2015, 8:56 AM

the last meeting between Clemson and Notre Dame, there were fewer than 50,000 fans in attendance at Death Valley. I'm sure this stat isn't lost on the ND team, and probably played a part in Brian Kelly's comments about being able to handle our crowd noise. Hopefully we can do better this time.

And I hate to say it, but if this game is not sold out, I hope the athletic department will put tarps over the empty seats, like they do in the NFL. I'd much rather see tarps than empty seats while watching the game on my TV.

Go Tigers!

Beat Notre Dame!

50,000 in 1977

Sep 30, 2015, 9:01 AM

is worth over 200,000 today so it should be plenty loud.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Those 50,000....minus a few thousand that have passed on,

Sep 30, 2015, 9:19 AM

are the same ones doing all the yelling today.............

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yet those 50K used to be able to STOP GAMES

Sep 30, 2015, 9:10 AM

with the fan noise, something the 80,000 today cannot do. Even got an NCAA rule passed because of the ruckus that used to be raised.

The Miami game in 2005 is the only game I know of in the last 25 years that has approached the noise level that the late 70's-80's crowd used to bring.

What's the problem? Cant we even GET LOUD anymore?!?!?! Are we too busy texting out buddy across the aisle to care?

You have to account for inflation

Sep 30, 2015, 9:13 AM

50,000 in 1977 is equal to 190,000 in 2015 attendance.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We really hope you were kidding...

Sep 30, 2015, 9:18 AM

Of course it will be a sell out.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I dont expect more thank 50k Clemson Fans this time

Sep 30, 2015, 9:18 AM

Notre Dame has a huge national following. Maybe the largest. I expect to see somewhere between 15k and 30k Domers in attendance.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It will be sold out

Sep 30, 2015, 9:20 AM

the problem is the domers rented out some of our fans. (or so I hear)

Sep 30, 2015, 10:28 AM

I don't know what you have been drinking, but that is the dumbest comment that I have read in a while. You really think that the Notre Dame folks are looking at the 1977 attendance figures and using that as motivation? Please!
