Looks like we are headed for a rebuilding decade unless ...

May 14, 2021, 10:55 AM

Given the transfers and whatnot. Perhaps we can patch together a team from the "transfer portal" and whatnot ...

Good thing is, if every year is basically a "pick up" team, the current strategery of carefully orchestrated play is out the window. Just let 'em play and maybe, they will listens when it comes to defense ... Coach B knows D ... the new Assistant they hired is the Offense Coordinator.

This will be interesting

Actually the results for the last decade are ahead of results from the last century so not sure what you are trying to say unless its that you dont really follow Clemson basketball

He/she doesn’t follow basketball.

"All those 'Fire Brownell' guys can kiss it." -Joseph Girard III

"Everybody needs to know that Coach Brownell is arguably the best coach to come through Clemson." -PJ Hall

I just don't see Brownell recovering from this..

if he had most of those players stay, I think he had a shot. At this point its just a matter of time. I'm sure the school will try to wait until the best financial opportunity.

I really think he did his best, but this is as far as he could get. Clemson has had much worse coaches.

You might want to go educate yourself. From the mid 70s through the early 90s Clemson actually had a pretty #### good basketball team. We produced a fair amount of excellent players during that period. And more than a few NBA players at a time when there were Less NBA teams.

People will dispute this, but when you go and do the research it’s pretty easy to come to this conclusion, but Cliff Ellis is the best basketball coach Clemson ever had.

And here’s another reality, we are never going to consistently be UNC, Duke, or Louisville. But there is absolutely no reason we can’t be at the top of that next tier. If Florida State and Miami and Virginia Tech can have some of the success they have had in the ACC, there is absolutely no reason why Clemson cannot be at the top of that second-tier consistently, which also means being in the NCAA tournament pretty much every year! All it takes is commitment.
We we are not committed to success in basketball.

I'm not in favor of blindly supporting all aspects of Clemson basketball but....

You can't exactly complain about the unstable nature of a program and say that teams have to be rebuilt every single year because of outgoing and incoming transfers, and then turn around and say a bad off-season will cause a decade of rebuilding.

The nature of college basketball has become that you are only as good as your previous off-season.

One season has very little impact on the next year, much less trying to project 3, 4, or 10 years down the road.

Based on the number of transfers every season in basketball, you don't even have to have a good season prior or a good reputation because many of the players seem to be simply picking their new team at random based on the promise of seeing the floor immediately.
