The story about Herman McGee in this months edition of the "Orange Experience" written by Mr Bourret.

Makes you feel good to be a Clemson man!

I hope Herman is recognized in some way in the new football complex

Herman was a great person

He always had a smile on his face and would say something like "Come here, I want to show you something." Under Fike were cubby holes everywhere. They were full of old game and practice pants shoulder pads and uniforms. He gave me 2-3 of the old navy practice jerseys complete with a few war wounds. They said CUAD in the corner and had big white numbers. I guess the jerseys were all victims of time. I will never forget his kindness.

A truly great man

I walked onto the cross country team as a junior, but he treated me as if I were an All American. I can't imagine what he meant to those early African American athletes that came to Clemson. I never heard anyone say a bad thing about him, and given he was dealing with immature often self centered young kids/men that is truly remarkable.
