what is the story with the new approved signs over campus?

Jul 15, 2017, 5:47 PM

Is this Clements doing?
Do I smell a drastic move to the left?

What signs? I teach at Michigan Tech, and the leftist nonsense is making inroads here on campus.

Are you an honorary yooper?

I'm currently an honorary troll ??

Yep, I'm guilty of being a transplanted Yooper. These last two years in the CFP games I have grinned ear-to-ear watching MSU and tOSU get annihilated. A couple of months ago a U of M fan almost assaulted me for wearing a Clemson hat. Since January I have worn Clemson gear A LOT!

You seem to be the snowflake. You're whining about...

Jul 15, 2017, 8:38 PM

it without telling the board what they say. So my assumption is it's not fascist propaganda so you got your panties in a wad

Fascism is such a misused word.

True, and by the left, predominantly.

of Tillman Hall is called but, aside from that, I haven't heard of any other signs being put up around campus.

That's been Gantt Circle since I went to school in the early

Check out the new billion plus dollar budget approved this week-the signs were part of that approval.
Everyone should know where the money is to be spent.

let me guess, they are putting up plaques honoring blacks and you are whining because you think it insults your cultural heritage?

how close did I come?

Re: what is the story with the new approved signs over campus?

Jul 15, 2017, 11:07 PM

Not really close as it is premature to predict the wording. It is for the recognition of various buildings and contemporary views of their historical significance. It is true that one of these is supposed to counter the Tillman name problem and that is the Gant sign.

Well I am completely against white washing history and have always been in favor of Tillman Hall keeping its name. It should serve as a reminder. But the fact remains much of our American history is a farce to begin with and was written by the people in power at the time to reflect on them favorably. Heck, General Washington exercised Gorilla warfare tactics at a time when there was supposed to be gentleman's agreement that soldiers met head to head in battle. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that, but the people at the time would have been upset to learn that he that he crossed the Delaware on Christmas eve during a cease fire and slit people's throat where they slept. It was unprecedented for the time and white washed over. That is a fact often left out of the American history books. So before you go crying bloody murder, maybe we should listen to what the historians have to say about the building designations before jumping to our own conclusions.

We are closer than I thought-history is the mythology created by he winner. It includes all of the prejudice of the reporter thus a whitewash and pseudohistory. We are always involved in revisionist history. When we fail to question our "educators" we perpetuate the myths. Propaganda IS EVERYWHERE
and as is "FALSE NEWS".We must question as I did initially. Please I am not a Fasciest for believing
in free speech-Clemson deserves it. I did not make conclusions . I only raised a question for discussion.

Things change and we evolve and comtinue on our path .
Stick around another decade and another shift will have taken place .

Happening for over a decade now.

I agree experiencing it on campus for over the past 10 years BUT IMHO it has greatly accelerated with the latest Clemson administration.
