The national media seriously has no clue.

Greg McElroy on ESPNU radio just suggested that Dabo and the coaching staff have been purposely putting the players in adverse situations in our first three games to “see how they respond.”
Give me a frickin' break. If anyone should know better than to have a take like that, you'd think it would be an ex-player (McElroy).

McElroy is very smarmy and a joke as far as football insights. His CU dislike is muted by our recent success but he is a twit.

Sorry guys...I don't think Dabo tells the offense to go sputter on purpose. That's just asinine.

What exactly did he say? McElroy is a pretty smart guy and this shocks me. I'm sure there was some sarcasm mixed in.
It would be very disrespectful to A&M and Syracuse and he's usually careful with his words.

Also, if he said this, I would not attribute the statement to the entire national media.

I actually agree, we're reaching into our bench even in key moments to give the players experience and help them grow. We're so talented we can afford to do that.

There's a huge difference between getting a lot of guys some game experience and purposely putting ourselves behind the eight ball.

Trumps experience when there's no risk. The players need to feel the 'urgency', the nerves, of their performance...not go through the motions and risk nothing.

He wasn’t implying we are setting up specific down and distance situations. Just that we are doing things in those situations we might not do if it were a game later in the season and more were riding on it.

interesting how people hear the same thing and come away with two opposite realities of what was said... So I'll quote him here.
He was implying that we are putting young 2 and 3 deep players in positions most teams COULDN'T do. His point was, no need to panic. Greg ALSO said "Clemson always peaks later and that's their plan. Clemson is right where they need to be this early in the season....no need to worry about Clemson."
THAT's what was said.

And we are already seeing evidence of the success of Dabo's plan to develop depth. Goodrich and Henry were shining stars in Saturday's game. 71 Tigers had playing time, gaining valuable experience that sometimes cannot be duplicated in practice. We were so accustomed to seeing the "Power Rangers" and their garnering their rightful praise last year we lost sight of the reserves who were gaining valuable experience. Most of us had concerns about our defensive line this year but have been pleasantly surprised to learn the cupboard was not left bare.

Does Dabo not put 2nd and 3rd stingers in while the other team is playing their 1's? Life is better when you're not looking for things to get offend by.

After we got to 14 points we starting running the plays we wanted to work on instead of running the plays that were working.
I 100% believe this is done on purpose to see if the players can execute when things are not wide open and set up properly.
We are not failing on purpose but we are making it much more difficult for our offense to be successful in certain situations to prepare them for when we don't have it easy.
After the first two games, Trevor said he needs work on putting the downfield throws in better spots to make it easier for our WRs. It's not an accident that we saw tons of throws downfield so Trevor and the WRs could get live reps trying to improve.

I've heard Dabo say exactly what McElroy said. He wants to stress players to get film to teach from early in the year.

Every throw down field is contested it seems like we are testing WRs In tight coverage and either winning or not winning jump balls. Nobody down field is EVER open? Seems intentional.

good. An average QB at best, won a Natty on a stacked Bama team. Then, used that to springboard to an announcing job, after the NFL quickly proved he couldn't play. Now, despite proving that he also can't announce, continues to survive cuts at ESPN. He either married well, or has some dirt on someone high up.

Never understood why ESPN let Danny Kannell go and kept McElroy. Not that it was a choice between the two, but if I'm getting rid of a former-QB commentator, McElroy's the one to go, for sure.

He actually believes the crap he says on TV, he would tell you the same thing off camera. Did he mention player rotation? Because if he didn’t than he knows nothing of keeping players healthy. A team as young as Clemson playing true freshman will always be in an adverse situation. That dude is weird.

They purposefully put guys in challenging spots, to see how they respond. I don't see how this is a bad thing, if it doesn't cost you a win. This is called good coaching?
